The only gold payments for membership that I can concieve you are talking about is for a guild membership. You would need to speak to one of the officers or guild leader.

Dont let any player covince you that you need to pay gold to them, unless its for access to a special club chat channel.

I believe he/she is talking about the engineering membership card. I have not done engineering yet so I could not say for sure, but I do not think you need to continually renew it even though it says expires in 14 days. Perhaps some master engineers can chime in.

I believe you only need to renew it to get rare recipes and engineering items, as they get sent in the post after you renew.

Yep, 300 Engineer here. The card *will* expire at some point, but I don't bother waiting. You can destroy the card and renew to get a new one. The reason? For every renewal you get a present from your trainer. I am goblin-my guy is in Gadgetzan. I usually do it 5 at a time(10 gold). I've been waiting and waiting for the recipe for the Pet Bombling, with no luck yet. I usually get stacks of bombs. I don't have a problem with the bombs, I certainly use them-but I want the Bombling! I believe for Gnomish it is a pet Lil Smoky. You can click on Trade Skills>by trade>engineering and look over the list for these Non-combat pets.
