Prospecting (in BC)Follow

#1 Dec 12 2006 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
Does anyone know how prospecting will be handled as a skill? Someone told me it would be part of jewelcrafting (something like the way combining skins to make higher level leather is part of leatherworking, not skinning), but I wanted to be sure it's not part of mining (like smelting is part of mining ad not smithing). It will affect what professions I take on which toons now and which ones I push to level up.

From what I understand, Prospecting will be an ability that comes with learning Jewelcrafting.

Similar to the Disenchanting ability that comes with Enchanting, Prospecting raw ore will yield gems and the like to be used in Jewelcrafting.

Truth, but a jewelcrafter should take mining as the second profession, or end up paying through the nose for raw ore at the AH.

If you only have one toon, mining is good for jewelcrafting. But seriously, you have a level 60 mining/skinning hunter alt to supply your main, don't you? That way you can have both jewelcrafting and enchanting on your main and get all the bonuses to make an uber character. Alt gatherers FTW!
