I am a hunter and I have 157/225 Leatherworking and 228/300 Skinning, but I am making next to no money with it. So my question is should I switch my leatherworking in for something else or at what level LW do I start to make a decent profit. Thanks in advance.

If you go tribal you can make money selling Hide of the Wild.

If you go elemental you can make money selling Shifting Cloak.

If you go dragonscale... well I dunno because the market is saturated.

I was talking about my level now...
I want to get money from a skill now so I was thinking of going herb/skinning(since it's already artisan) until I get to 60 or once I have plenty of money. So should I stop my leatherworking until I have money and then take it back up?

maybe you can keep the skinning and make another profession minning or herby(if you want to go back to leather working soemwhen, you should keep skinning). btw, mine is minning and berby, bring me lots money, haha

Well I am not rolling in gold, but I made enough to pay for my mount, while buying skills and weapon upgrades along them way. I chose to do skinning and herbalism. For me, as a hunter they just made sense. (sort of the role player in me I guess lol)

Also, something to help you out, if you didn't do it already, create another player and plant him/her in a major city near a bank and auction house. Then you can just mail your gathered goods and drops you want to sell, with no need to make a trip there with your main.

Thank you very much Jikwikdclwn!
I think that I will go herb/skinning now. I have a question though, since I am a hunter(as are you) will herbing be difficult with my trackers. Yes, I have gatherer add-on so that will make it easier, but not until I find one in that spot first. So will it be difficult with the trackers will I get the herbs on my gatherer list?

I believe you can only have 1 tracker at a time so yes, I would think it would be more difficult. And before Mike chimes in, have you considered fishing? Also, I made a lot more (and I mean a LOT) from working the AH.

Yeah the tracker issue can be a pain sometimes, I mostly just use the herb tracking when I am running back to a base or something or I just cycle it on and off once in a while to scan the area. You'd be surprised how many herbs you just see while fighting and questing.

Whenever I watch my son play his warrior, it makes me shudder what it would be like to run around with no tracking. lol

Yes, I agree! I would not make it without my trackers so I will just switch on and off the herb tracker and the hunter trackers for a while till I get a few on the gatherer add-on.

If you don't know what Gatherer does then I'll explain. Gatherer is a add-on that remembers all the herb, mining nodes, and treasures that you may find through out Azeroth.

So thanks for the tips, and I have found the solution! I am going to drop Leatherworking and take up herb. Luckily my Priest still have another Deviate Scale Belt and a blue glove pattern that I forgot the name of.

Thanks and Cya!

Oops, forgot to mention the fishing idea. I fish all the time, /laugh. It is already 183 in about a week, but I also gained a bunch of levels on Hunter. I use my fishing to fish up deviates which I then cook and sell for a ton. I just find deviates to be a little slow to be a good money maker any help with what fish are good at that fishing level and then what fish to switch off to at what level for money. Thanks!

The CTMod package will note these on your map as well.

Mind explaining what CTmod does? Like is it exactly like Gatherer? What is the link for the download?

Thanks!

www.ctmod.net - It's currently on a low bandwidth webpage model due to the recent updates.

It's actually a small package of utilities including the ability mark herbs and mining nodes on your map.

There's also functionality to

- change the appearance of your buffs/debuffs
- add quest level to your quest log
- move action bars (very simple configuration)
- hide blizzard ui elements such as the Gryphons

The list goes on...

You don't have to use all of the utilities if you don't want them.

It lets you make your UI look how You want it, not how bliz wanted it. The game has a lot more powerfull UI tools like CTMod, but none are as free from bugs or require such a simple setup(discord mod for example can take a few weeks to setup from scrach, or it did for me)

UI = User Interface i.e. the setup of your bars and any additional elements on the screen.
