Read a few discussions below this. it gives a bit about fishing. as it is, wreckage are supposedly random and mutated spawns of the normal fishing pools. so places with high number of pools have high chance of the wreckage.

I have found wreckage near Southshore, Steamwheedle, STV, and if you really want danger, Azshara. :) They spawn everywhere - just go to a place where there are normally several pools and start fishing.

<---- Please look at the menu. You will see "Areas" listed under the "Geography" heading. Clicking on this will give you a list of all areas in the game. Azshara is in this list. The rough location is east of Ashenvale in Kalimdor. Steamwheedle is in Tanaris, which is also on the list. I have linked it for your reference:

Tanaris is located at the south end of Kalimdor.

Please be aware that these are higher level zones, so you will be monster bait if your character level is too low. In addition, you will need to have a fishing skill of 270 or more (with lure) for Steamwheedle to avoid losing too many fish. I have fished Steamwheedle with a level 20 character on a PvE server, but I could only run between Gadgetzan and the port on the road. Departing the road resulted in a quick death. Azshara is higher, and I wouldn't even try it until you are in the mid 50's and have a fishing skill of 300 (without lure).

I have found that the wreckage pools generally yield boxes of 'loot' that correspond to the level of the area. You find the same type of boxes while fishing normal pools and open water but the odds of finding them are better in a debris pool. The debris pools in the Barrens (around Ratchet) yield bolts of linen and wool, light and medium leather, mostly copper coin and rarely a green item around level 10-15. The debris pools in Stonetalon yield bolts of linen, wool, and silk (maybe some mageweave too?), light to heavy leather, mostly silver coin and rarely a green around level 20. I haven't gotten too much from pools in higher areas as my main is only level 33 but in Desolace down around Shadowprey I think I fished up a box with a level 29 item in it plus some higher value cloth and leather. The Rumsey Rum that sometimes comes up also goes up in quality as you fish higher areas.

In my experience in fishing the pools around Ratchet, the debris pools seem to just be a random variation of the normal pool spawns. I can run the whole set of pool locations and not find a single debris pool and other days I will see about a third of the pools as debris pools. I would imagine that most other locations are the same although I don't think I've ever seen a debris pool spawn in the oasis areas of The Barrens so it's possible that they only have a chance of occuring in certain areas.

So far, the one area I have found the greatest number of debris pools is in Windshear Crag in Stonetalon Mountains. They seem to be a 'normal' pool type there instead of being a rare replacement of the 'normal' as they seem to be in other areas I have been to.
