Heya, I'm a lvl 52 warrior that has tried numerous proffesions trying to get rich in the world of Azeroth. I rescently picked up Alchemy and mannaged to grind it up to 300. I can transmute acanite, I can make free action potions, I just bought the resipes for goblin rocket fuel and swiftness potion, I have a bank alt filled to the rim with herbs, and Im currently grinding my herbalism in the artisan range (around 280 I think).

I have tried to sell arcanite bars and free action pots on the AH only to arrive home from work in the morning to have my heart broken when they are returned to me through the ingame mail system. I am just about to give up on those and try producing and selling the goblin rocket fuel and swiftness potions on the AH.

Is this a wise course of action, should I stick with the arcanite bars and free action pots, or should I try and find some other recipe? I intend leveling so that I can go through Shollo with guildies to complete the questline so I can buy the recipe for major mana pots, but that will occur in future events.

Let me know what you guys think, if I'm crazy let me know, if I have the right idea let me know, or if I'm just a fat n00b let me know.

Have you tried stonescale oil? It generally sells for lots more than the AH price of eels. And, its very cheap to make if you fish your own eels.

I have two characters in raiding guilds, one MC.BWL and the other ZG/AQ20.
I use Major Healing, Major Mana, Greater Nature Protection and Greater Fire Protection.

As you are level 52 you can't farm these yourself, but it might be worth investing money in the two Greater protection recipes.

Also swiftness potions usually sell well on WSG Holiday weekends. Look at putting some on the AH on the Thursday night before.

With all selling, timing is everything. I have found that almost everything sells better at weekends, conversly you can often buy cheaply at the beginning of the week.

Just a bit of advice the Greater Fire / Nature prot potion recipies are very expensive (circa 250g depending on server), most top end-game raiding guilds will have multiple alchemists that can make the pots, so you'll be limited to selling to smaller guilds members.

I have actually done nicely with selling stonescale oil, however i don't have a large volume of eels to make the oils with. My primary source for the eels comes from the Tanaris coast, however that area is often picked over before I get there. I have been considering flying off to Azshara's coastline in search for stonescale eel pools however.

I have to admit that alchemy proved to be a bane to me as well. When I took it up, it seemed like a goldmine. Several potions (FR pots, Free Action pots, Speed pots in particular) all sold very quickly at the AH- especially on weekends, and often I could make a comfortable profit even by buying the mats on the AH and making the pots to sell. However, later on, I found out that there were a lot of alchemists making pots, and they were price-cutting severely, to the point of charging less for the potions than the materials cost on the AH.

Keep an eye out for trends- if there are a lot of pots up, sell the mats. If there aren't many potions on the AH, or there's a BG weekend, make the pots.

If your having bad luck with alchemy you need to get transmute the heart of fire to elemental fire, then you need the greater fire resistance potions.

You can easily make a ton of gold from farming the hearts of fire, or buying them from the ah and making potions.

I usually just keep an eye on how well the heart of fire's are selling, if i see them for a good price i buy them all, make as many potions as i can.
