Skills for a hunter?Follow

#1 Oct 13 2006 at 2:17 AM Rating: Decent
I´m starting to play today and I can´t decide what skills to chose. It would be nice to have one that I make money of and one that I have use for myself. Thinking about Leatherworking. Problably usefull for a hunter, right? But it dosn´t bring in any cash. What is the best second skill? Or do yo have another great skill-combo for hunter?

If you really really want to make things for yourself, go with Skinning/Leatherworking.

If you want to earn gold and buy yourself nice weapons and armor, go with 2 gathering skills. See trade skills sticky post on this forum for more information.

As a hunter, you would make the most money with any combination of Skinning/Herbalism/Mining, although Herbalism and Mining will interrupt your tracking devices.

The second most money would be Skinning/Leatherworking, as you can trade your goods and make yourself some nice armour.

The "money-sink" profession is engineering, although it's probably the most fun out of the bunch. You can make yourself guns, bows and bombs, amongst about a hundred interesting items to amuse yourself. Goblin Engineering is things that go boom, and Gnomish is cool items.

If you're a hunter, you'll probably want fishing as a skill in order to feed your pet. As long as you're doing that, you might as well farm the money fish at the same time (Deviate Fish, Firefin Snapper, Oily Blackmouth, Stonescale Eel).

The herbalism will bring in plenty of cash. Skinning not quite as much. When you get your herbalism over 150, you may want to switch to herbalism/alchemy. Hunters can make use of mana and health potions, as well as underwater breathing potions. You can also sell these potions and others. By the way, hunters make great herbalists because your pet can keep a nearby mob busy while you finish picking an herb (It's easier for me to pick on my hunter than my priest. Both are 300 herbalism).

I'm not an expert, but i to just started to play and made a hunter and must say that skinning/leatherwoking works very very well at the beginning, almost everibody says that herbalism is great at high levels, so why pick it up know? especially with hunter if you use mining or herbalism you wont be able to track beast and humanoids, and those skills keep your game running, other small reason for going leather is that allows you to pack up lesser skins in better ones, saving your space, you can transorm 3 scraps in one light leather and that means having more space for more money making stuff you ghater. Other more important reason is that you will make on your one armors that are better than the ones you cuold buy, and having better armors means that you die less otfen, and if you die less otfen you play more time and that means having more time for making more money.

If you play just to kill people and PVP go engineering/mining and at 60 change to engineering/alchemy.
