Herb/Alch to Min/EngFollow

#1 Sep 11 2006 at 9:07 PM Rating: Decent
Hi I'm a 40 mage and i'm currently at like 120 or so herbalism and 212 alchemy (my friend used to give me herbs to level my alch) and i'm seriously thinking about switching to mining/engineering for pvp. The only pots I really use are the potions adn maybe an elixer of firepower here or there but do you think it would be worth it to go engineering for the nades with stun and other pvp enhancing things?

Hey, if you want to. If you decide against it, later, well.. honestly, your Alch skill isn't that high and would be easy to get back quickly.

An alt of mine, a 17 Mage, has ~140 Engineering. The bombs he makes are neat- no question about it- but not overly practical in PvE just yet. I was wanting to hit 18 with him before going into BG (considering most of the BG players in this range, on my server, are highly twinked lvl 19's. Bastards.). Now, I'm in college, and haven't played him in about a month, so don't quote me on this.. but I do believe that using bombs has a timer on it, but you can toss them while moving? So far, my best stun is 3sec (I think?), and the AoE isn't something I would rely on against a moving target, especially considering the fact there's a travel time on the projectile itself.

I believe having the bombs in BG would be an advantage.. I'm just not sure how much of one. The stun might be neat vs. casters using non-instant spells, such as a Mage who might sit there and try pelting you with a bunch of spells, and especially vs. tightly packed groups.

If you are all about PVPing engineering is the best way to go, all of the little gadgets you have will definately help. (especially now since potions will disappear after each battle).

Being that you are a mage, and you can be quite useless after you run out of mana, the extra gadgets will go a long way for you. gnomish battle chicken, mechanical dragonlings, gnomish shrink ray, goblin everything....

Look into the the different gadgets you can get on the side bar under trade skills.

Dont forget about the goblin jumper cables, a mage who can rez? Always a good thing. Although usually your the first to die in every circumstance...

Haha, either way you sure would be better off giving it a try - but im warning you now, engineering is an absolute money sink - be prepared to dig into your wallets or do some massive farming. :)

Im not joking.

Thanks guys, i think what i'm gonna do is take all my ingrediants i have left, make all the potions i can and then go engineering. Just not sure of exactly when yet because I have no money (in 10g debt actually) from getting my mount and skills. Bombs are gonna be so fun...
