Pricing your craftingFollow

#1 Aug 09 2006 at 8:36 AM Rating: Decent
I have never really figured out a good way to come up with prices for crafting certain items. Anyone got anyways to figure out what I should charge for crafting a certain item? I'm gnomish engineering(all but 3 schematics) and armorsmith(missing a few more there, but have many desirables).

a mod like aucationeer can give some insight for your armorsmithing. Unfortuanaly with the fine art of explosives the game offers no "Rare" items to make super cheeze off of(well you can make some dang good cash selling Goblin jumpercalbes - XL, becasue most folks realy want the death ray and go gnomish).

When i want to make money with Eng I sell delecite arcnate converters, and gyrohoosites. I found the best money in the trade is in Fused Wireing. make up a few stacks of diffrent kinds and take them out to be killed. i can convert a few stacks of dummies to a stack of FW in a matter of an hr, durring that time i can also pull up some nice fish.

Armorsmithing is a diffrent ball o wax, since there are items that require rep you can actualy charge for crafting some items, a rule that is used by guildmembers is 10% of mat cost(capping out at 25 gold for ANY crafting, be it epic or not, 25 gold for pushing a button is on the border of insane). Sometimes costs are higher if the buyer cannot come up with some ingreadents. For example A guild crafter charges 25 gold to craft a sageblade, but if you are missing mats, and cannot get them (not in AH) he will sell you what he has at a rate higher than the AH(building in a second proffit as he likely bought the mats months ealryer.)

realisticly you cannot hope for more than a tip for any itmes that can be purchased generaly(no rep needed), or are not insane rare finds(fire protection pot for example), but for itmes that required a rep grind or farming the snot for a pattern, then you may be able to pickup some cash on the side. The real money is in the mats!!!!

Well looking purely at what I have that people might want, I think my biggest seller would be Elemental Sharpening Stones. But since most people would want quite a few made that's the hard part. I'm thinking like 25s per stone, so thats 5g per stack. Or would you think people would pay more? I'll have to try out the dummy->FW sell and see how that goes. I'm still trying to see if I can't create a markert for Fire Deflectors for twinks, but just recently like 20 of them showed up on the AH.

if you can make Elemental sharpending stones, you are set for a good seller. 5 gold a stack seems a lil low for them... so yes, i thing that 7.5 is a stack is a good opening price. my rogue and my shamay both use them for extra tough baddies.

The Target Dummies:
Usualy I am not a terribly supersticous man, I dont buy in to a lot of the WoW stories that folks make up(for example you cant jumper cable a releaced player, or the rate is lower) but I can say that I have had better luck with Fused Wireing when NOT in a city. My Bogus theroy goes that since capitol cities are level 1-10 zones the likeyhood goes down of getting a ideal drop(FW). I have got FW drops in Org, in IF, hell even in TB once or twice. but my best luck comes when I am fishing, in zones with much higher level mobs, like the hindernalds and the like( remember MY results, and i even admit it is not logical, just what i have seen)
