Weaponsmith: SpecializationFollow

#1 Aug 08 2006 at 11:00 AM Rating: Decent
My Game Server is Khael'thas. My Guild is Kinsmen. The Guild has an
abundance of Armorsmiths. I chose Weaponsmith. I need advice on which
specialization to choose: Sword, Axe or Hammer. I am leaning toward Sword
but that is a personal preference. Which of the above specializations
has the Best and/or most available plans? Any advice would be appreciated
except advice to drop Blacksmithing. I have 7 other alts on Khael'thas that
cover all classes and professions. Thanks.

I think that choice has to do with what you have access to.... as far as plans and instances. IMHO none of the crafted items are that amazing, sure they look good, but when you see the mats and realise that getting said mats puts you in a position to get drops as good if not better than the one you are crafting.

if you scorll to the bottom you can see what each spec can make with said spec.
mages/locks/pallies will love the sageblade, but that dosent offer a whole lot to the maker(usualy warriors)

the hammers are ok(but unstopable force is better and is eazly atained)

the cash cow is axes, for dawns edge, they sell to hunters well.

you didnt want my real advice(take up eng) but i think that axe crafting has the most money in it, but since you have so meny alts, maybe sowards would be a good choice.

I am currently mulling over the same decision. Although for me I am not in a guild and have no plans to be in one so attainability factors in differently since I want 5 man gettable components and patterns.

To me the decision really boils down to a comparison of the 2 premiere pre-raid tanking weapons between axes and swords. Those would be:

Frostguard

and

Annihilator

Annihilator is a touch better in my opinion, mainly based on the speed although they are very comparable weapons. The reason I will probably go swordsmith though is...the plans for Annihilator are a rare (9%) drop off of Quartermaster Zigris while the plans for Frostguard are a common (94%) drop off of Foreman Marcrid (a 58 non-elite rare in Western Plaguelands). Evidently the Foreman isn't too rare since there is almost always at least 1 set of plans in the AH on my server for anywhere from 10 to 40 gold. Meanwhile I don't know anyone that has even ever seen a set of plans for Annihilator.

Thanks for the advice. I can make my specialization choice at level 52,
I believe but I don't have to do it then. I may wait until I can try to
get the plans for Annihilator at level 58. If I can secure a copy, I will
choose Axesmith, if I can't, I will choose Swordsmith. Thanks for the
advice.

You cannot delete a post. It is acceptable to edit and replace a duplicate post with just something along the lines of "Deleted Duplicate Post".
