alright so my 36 mage is a tailor/enchanter at the moment. i'm about a 180 tailor, and a 205 enchanter. i'm not going to give up enchanting, because ive put so much into it already, and i can see the light at the end of the tunnel...but at the same time, i want to make some more money, and tailoring just doesnt seem to have a lot of use, as the armor it provides isn't that useful. meanwhile, i keep hearing how herbalism can really provide some money if you're leveled in it, as can skinning...should i switch? would it be better for me in the long run? thanks for the help.

Outside of bags I have yet to make any money as my 300 tailor. I am farming rep to get a couple of patterns but I don't expect to make much cash. Skinning is an easier skill to level, and easier to use. Just hunt beast mobs and yetis. I have found, though, that my stacks of herbs sell better than leather. ( I have 3 different characters). At 36 you could easily get swiftthistle which I sell well 5G a stack. Wildvine sells for upto 1 G a pices, so 20G a stack. Prices will vary server to server. So, skinning easier, herbs better profit. Just my opinion of course.

Tailoring is great for helping to level up enchanting by making items to disenchant. But otherwise I’ve not found it to be a great money maker.

Skinning is a good source of steady income. In general you won’t make much money per stack of leather, but since there are so many beasts to skin while leveling the money does tend to add up over time.

Herbalism isn’t a great money maker at low levels. There can be exceptions, but I’ve not made much with it at low levels. However, at higher levels herbs can sell from fifty silver to a gold and a half each depending on the herb and your local economy.

I’ve found mining to be just the opposite of herbalism. Its an incredibly money maker at low levels. It’s not unusual to see a stack of copper selling for a gold. That’s huge money for a level six character. Iron tends to sell well too. But mithril doesn’t sell for very much, at least on my server, and thorium is so heavily camped that finding any is almost a miracle.
