I've read a LOT of threads and guides and searched and searched and I cannot find a decent guide to where/how to find all the different plans/patterns/etc.
Can anyone help me out? Point me in the right direction?
Mainly looking for LW and BS plans.

Look over on the left side of this website. See the menu? Scroll down almost to the bottom and find the "Trade Skills" section, click "By Trade...". Then pick the profession to bring up a list of recipes/patterns.
Look over to the left and find the tab under the "Tradeskills..." section that says:
"By Trade..."
Click on it, and select Blacksmithing or Leatherworking for a list to all of the things you can make. Clicking on them will give you comments. If they are from patterns, next to the name of the item (or under it) will be a < recipe: > or < plans: > tag, that you can click to find where you can discover the pattern. If there isn't a recipe, then it's usually from a trainer.

Yeah, I've done that.. I knew that's the response I would get based on past posts I've read.

I'm not an Alla n00b. I do know how to use the forums and links. I've gotten as far as I have so far based on Alla alone.

Some of them have the solution for me. Like Copper Chain Vest. Nice! A reward from a quest. I know how to get that one.
But what about Gemmed Copper Gauntlets? Do I have to hunt and hunt and hunt for a .01% drop? That's 1 out of 10k. Surely there is another way to obtain this without buying it from the AH.

Some plans are only drops. I usually buy these from the AH. I tried grinding for the Savory Deviate Delight recipe once and eventually gave up. Find a good way to make gold and buy the pattern. It is much more time-efficient than trying to get it yourself. (Of course, I *never* buy a pattern that can be purchased at a vendor)

Yes. Many, such as the one you have listed, will show up on the AH at somepoints. I have been farming Gnomer for the longest time to get teh Flame Deflector schematic and finally last night someone had it on the AH afetr my raid. No more gnomer for me. Only 4 more schematics to go, sadly 3 are in MC and they never drop. =(
Yes, unfortunately there are some things which are simply world drops - anything in the world of the appropriate level has a small chance of dropping it, and nobody really has any higher a chance. I'm guessing someplace in the loot table for any creature is a small percentage chance of dropping a world drop, and this points to another loot table to determine what that drop will actually be. If this is the only place the pattern appears on any of the loot tables, chances are much higher that it will be found by a non-blacksmith than a blacksmith, and therefore will appear on the AH long before you can kill the 10,000 it would take to have a roughly even chance of having seen one drop.
