I'm not sure if there's been a thread like this before (I would imagine so) but here's another one anyway.

What professions would you add to the game given a chance. Or what items would you like to be added that crafters can make?

I'd like to see a lumberjack gathering profession to keep in theme with the WC RTS games, gathering wood from trees and such. This could go with a carpenter profession, people who can craft bows, shields or items used by other proffessions, such as wooden stocks, etc.

As for items, I'd really love it if engineers could make an inflatable boat that allows faster movement speed over water. Or some sort of item of clothing that increases movement speed when in the water (is there an item like this already? I know of the swim speed potions and the cloth belt that tailors can make).

Hmmm..I'm gonna give it a go.

You know you see in gnome land areas hat there are little cars. It'd be a cool thought if engineers could make temporary cars that last a few days. Not an unlimited mount but that last a few days then break down into a useless component like Handful of Copper Bolts.

:) we had a thred going for a long time about "Racers" that would take a team of folks to work togather to build, involving smiths to make frames Leatherowrkers for skins(skin of the racer) and tires(ya we said leather tires) alchmest for fule and well of corse engeneers for most of it(what ME bias twards engeneerrs?). sorry to drift OT just made me smile thinking about the racers.

I think there should be an entertainment profession. It would be cool to host a guild party and someone could make, like, balloons and festival floats for special occsiones. Oh! Great idea! They could make special party clothes and stuff like hats, that would just be cool. Sticking with the entertainment factor your toon could juggle. Maybe eat fire at higher levels. And for some usefullness can throw weird things at opponents to confuse them. Input =D

About the movement speed in water, Azure silk belt helps with that

I'd like to see a change to Tailoring, and allow two different paths to be taken later. Maybe one path concentrates on the stats of the item (Int, Stam, Spi, etc) while the other concentrates on the bonuses (+Dmg, +Heal, +Crit, etc).

I'd like to see a, sort've, Voodoo kind of profession. By itself, it's able to make off-hand items by collecting skulls off of enemies, and perhaps being able to make glass objects...

The profession can also make staves, but it requires wood (which would mean that it requires the mats of your woodcutting profession). The Voodoo-kind've profession makes the top of the staff, while the Woodcutting profession makes the rest of it. They might also need a tiny bit of wood in order to make canes/rods as off-hand items. (So the two professions basically work best if taken together)

I think the Gnomish (or Goblin-doesn't matter) Jet Pack would be an excellent engineering toy. IMHO the fun potential (and probably expoit potential) would be huge. Here are the spec's I would envision:

Chest, BoE, Cloth armor (so all classes can use it)
Use: Allows the user to fly for up to 20 seconds. (control could be similar to swimming)
Cooldown: 10 minutes
Failure Possibilites: Explosion-no flight / Some flight followed by an explosion and loss of function / Uncontrolled flight to maximum altitude (I hope you have a parachute cloak)

maybe the lumberjack could make stocks for guns, increasing chance to hit, or the lumberjack could be strictly a gathering profession, and then have a woodcarving profession that, if helped by an enchanter/voodoo person, could make woodcarvings held in your off hand, carvings such as Large Carving Of The Bear/Eagle, going off the boat idea somone makes the boat, an engineer makes the engine, then the engineer(or an alchemist, except that needing 3 professions would probably be seen as to unneeded by many) can make fuel, the the raft could be a trinket with a name like "Large Inflatable Raft", Use: Spawns a raft if on water. then the motor/paddles(which woodcarvers could make for lowbies not rich enough to afford a motor/fuel) could be another trinket, the motor would need the reagent diesel(or another type) fuel to use, thinking about it, Im surprised about the professions that are now in game, there's a profession for skinning animals, mining minerals, even gathering plants, so how exactly did wood gathering/carving not make the cut?

All armor-making profs can make funny armors like bunny heads :P
It's easy to put some extra patterns in the game and it will be so much fun.

Yeah it would be sweet to see some new funky patterns in the professions. Maybe they will add a bunch more with the upcoming expansion. ^_^

I do hope they add more facets to tailoring like they have for blacksmithing (armorsmith/weaponsmith) and leatherworking (tribal/elemental/dragonscale). Tailors need some love too!!
