It depends on the server, and it depends on the current supply/demand of that particular server.

My advice is to see for yourself what it sells for on your server, and decide your price based on going rates and availability.

I personally tend to take a similar approach, though not exactly the same. I usually slightly undercut the bid prices so that my auctions are listed first, but then put up a buyout equal to the average listed one. Usually works.

OP, you might also pick up the Auctioneer mod. Using this you won't ever have to ask us the price of things again.

Also, just pop what you're looking for in the search box on the left. It'll give you the average prices over many servers. Since your server could be a bit different, take it with a grain of salt, but it's a good starting point if you can't find any info on your particular server's price for that item.
