Fishing - Fat FishFollow

#1 Jul 18 2006 at 10:55 AM Rating: Decent
One spot I have been fishing lately is Bay of Storms.

I now have in my bank a 12 lb. and 9 lb. Lobster. Who uses them and I understand there are other fat fish. (not the bloated one).

I put up in AH and nothing on either one. One person did buy my reg. lobsters though.

I have caught a couple of different 17 (I think) pound fish. They can be equipped as a melee weapon but don't show DPS stats or anything. I also have no idea what they can be used for (they are labeled in white).

they are to show off, kind of like the preserved fish that modern day fisherman put on there wall. They are to show off, or to make freeking Hi-Larous movies, last years mutton and a 17 lb fish makes for a funny sight as somebody wonders arround org with a hunk o meat and a fish in there hands.

I'm curious to know if you can enchant it, though. Maybe make a glowing fish of some sort...that'll sell because someone will want to disenchant it, or just hold it as a gag.

find me a off hand item enchant, and we are set, but unlike shilds(becasue blizzard loves melee folks and hates casters) that have enchants off hand items do not.... it is not a weapon if so only a rogue/warrior/hunter could hold it off hand, but since it is for everybody, it is a "Off hand item" and the game just dosent have any enchants for them.

Those 17 pound and other fishes are show-off :D "Mine is bigger than yours"
for RP, those can be really valuable...

There is a weapon in game; I think it’s considered a mace, that is shaped like a fish. And you catch it just like a fish. I’ve only seen it listed in databases. I’m still hoping to catch one. But since it’s considered a mace I expect you could enchant it if you wanted to carry around a glowing fish.

I'll remeber this the next time a Mage poly's me then hits his ZHoC/AP and knocks off 3.8K HP with a single frostbolt (do enough pvp and you will see these kind of things). Can all mages do this? No but it proves that there is gear out there that will allow mages to do this; therefore proving that blizz does care about its casters.

To the OP I think a fish with fiery on it would be sweet! Or if I was rich or about to quit the game I would put crusader on it and go duel people and watch their reaction when it procs :P. Too bad you cant enchant it though :(

Yeah, it's the times when those cooldowns are up or the polied enemy is smart enough to use one of a multiple of effect-breaking items/trinkets that mages get wtfpwned ;-).

Do enough PvP and you'll realize that it takes very specific circumstances to be "overpowered."

On topic, I've found multiple fish above 25 pounds! That must pack a punch!

Here’s a link to the fish mace I mentioned:

According to the posts below it, someone caught one July of 2005. Hopefully its still in game. I think I’ll go practice my fishing in one of these spots.

I once saw someone with the fish-mace in a BG. It had Crusader and everything. He was also wielding an off hand fish. Quite a sight.
