enchanting question (how to level up higher/faster)Follow

alright guys, i appreciate any help here.

my mage is level 28, and right now i'm a level 160 enchanter. basically, i'm wondering how to get my enchanting level up, because it seems from here on out it takes a LOT of time and/or money to level it up, as the mats for the enchants are becoming more and more expensive. from what i can see, i can either run a ton of instances and count on blue/green drops to disenchant for mats, or i can buy mats off the AH. up to this point i've been doing the former (disenchanting) but it seems like i'm going to have to spend a ton of time to get the number of mats i need.

furthermore, i've tried offering enchants in the trade channel (for free with mats!) but haven't gotten anyone to go for it. is this because my level is too low, or am i doing something wrong or what?

so any advice on how to level my enchanting would be much appreciated. again, thanks in advance.

edit: in case it helps, my other profession is tailoring, which i'm also a level 160 in.

Best way i can tell is to use tailoring to make items to DE... that way you can level up both, and make better use of the tailoring items you create that you don't really need anyway. I don't really know how practical/cost efficient this is at level 160 (i've only taken it to about 80 for both at this point on my priest alt). Also, you can ask your guild to send you spare greens in return for free enchant services.

Besides that, I'd say to bite down and invest the money in it. You chose enchanting, now live with the consequences :-).

And remember, you can only get your tradeskill higher than 225 once you become level 35. Not that I think you don't know this, but I just dropped 10g power leveling alchemy on my main to 225, only to realize afterwords that I'm 7 levels away from being able to get higher... :-(

Hope that helps.

My 17 priest is capped at 150 in both tailoring and enchanting. WHat I did was run my Hunter through instances and farm humanoids, sent all the green drops to my priest to dischant. It cost me nothing and I ended up making a nice profit. Now I also use my Hunters LW (250) for her to dischant lvl 40 items.(which I save in my bank)

Try finding a high lvl leatherworker who would be willing to give you some lvl 40 gear to dischant or run alot of instances, farm harpies or bristleboars or farm whelps (while not as good as farming an instance, I usually get at least 7-10 greens to drop each time I farm a crimson whelp)

I'm level 16 Priest with 72 at enchanting and 100 at tailoring. Right now, I made one gold from enchanting. How? Run VC alot, maybe not do greed roll but need roll, so you get more stuffs, and that way you can disenchant green or blue stuffs more. Also, I have very good friend who are high level leather worker, he make alot of green stuffs and sent to me. So this mean I have green stuffs from my friend, AND I make green stuff from tailoring so I get more things to disenchant.
When you learn how to make great magic wand, I decide that I don't want to sell them at AH so, I sold them for like 15s and 20c or something like that to vendors. Then, you have 1g!
All you need to do is to know people and be their friend, like I did, and ask them to make green stuffs for me. The people in my servers is very nice people. Just become nice person and you will be rich soon.

Yeah my priest is a 300 tailor and 292 (I think) enchanter, and honestly tailoring is probably the best (and cheapest) way to level enchanting. I would say that it is actually better than running instances. However, you seem to want to level really fast and that takes a ton of gold. The only way to level really fast is to buy stuff off the AH and DE it or, buy mats directly. On my server, I don't think its even worth it to do enchanting because there are already so many 300 enchanters, many of whom already have the rare enchants people want. but hey, maybe your server is different.

Wow, that's a horribly underhanded move :-P
That is quite possibly the worst advice to give to someone. Do NOT steal items from other people, please! Do not listen to this person!

What a lot of people here are forgetting when they say "I didn't lose any money; I made money!" is that they aren't taking into account the items they destroy. Even level 12-15 gear is at least 10-20s each at the AH; you are "spending" that much every time you nuke something to get dust.

Don't believe people when they say "enchanting cost me nothing." Enchanting sucks all the potential cash out of your coinpurse.

Yes, no one wants low level enchants unless they are free (as in, you pay for the materials too!). Sorry, but that's how it works until higher levels.

Here is an enchanting guide. You'll be happy to know that they say
Enchanting Guide wrote:
To learn recipe's from a trainer costs gold. The amount of gold needed is aproximately 20 to 25 gold if you disenchant all of the dust, essences and shards. If you want to buy everything you need from the auction house expect to spend upwards to 1000 gold (including the arcanite rod). This does not include gold for recipe's from vendors or the auction house.

So, 1000 gold if you buy all the materials :-P If you manage to disenchant them all, then it's only 20-25 gold... but that's about 800 gold in items you'd need to buy in order to disenchant them ;-).

Enchanting is NOT cheap :-D Best of luck!

Oh, and some advice. Depending on your server, it might be cheaper to use Leatherworking to make green items to disenchant. Leather is usually a LOT cheaper than cloth. If you have a LWing friend, see if he/she can make you some greens if you buy the (cheap) leather for them. Offer some enchants to them as a tip, too ^_^

alright guys, thanks for the help. two of my buddies are 60s on my server, and one is a 300 LW and one a 300 blacksmith, so i have all my rods taken care of, and i can start getting my LW buddy to help me out too, good thinking.

and with regards to the comment that there's too many 300 enchanters on your server to make money, it seems as though i've lucked out, as generally i only see one person consistently offering level 300 enchants on my server (Wildhammer.)

anyways thanks again, i'll get to work. :)
