SHOULD I DO THIS??Follow

I have a brother who plays wow with me and im wondering if i should do blacksmiting and herbalism while he does mining and alchemy.
i know I could just do mining and blacksmithing on my own but I'm pretty close with my brother.
So should I keep on doing this?

your brothers older then you right?
Your geting the short end of the stick here, he knows that he'll be needing your herbalism mats to get his alchemy up high enough for Transmute: Arcanite...

Arcane Crystal (mining) + Thorium Bar (mining) use Trans Arc (alchemy) = Arcanite Bar

Arcanite Bars sell for 30g ezy, 4 times now I'v sold Arcanite Bars for 60g each. When he hits that 275 alchemy skill for the Trans Arc (he'll get there useing your mats) then he wont need you any more.

and then what are you going to do with your blacksmiting if you can't get the mats for it? sell herbalism mats to buy the blacksmiting mats you say? No you won't, the herbalism mat market may or may not pick up in the next patches but right now it sucks, all the price have droped with 1.11 since players (who are not useing herbalism) can stack Un'Goro Soil up too 100 (befor 1.11 it was 20), all players can just make a lot of the herbalism mats thay need.

Go tell your brother to stop being so lazy and just go get some Un'Goro Soil for his alchemy mats, you can buy it off the AH or pick it up your self for free.

If you want blacksmiting then go mining. If your brother wants alchemy then he should go herbalism.

You can just drop the mining/herbalism later on when your 'both' rich.

I agree :-) I've always found that if you get two professions that compliment each other, it's just easier. That way, if you happen to be playing without your brother, you won't have to wait for him to log in to make some of your stuff.

He isn't fipping me off because this is our first characters on WoW and i doubt he would know one of those things.
But thankyou for the warning

herb/alch and mining/blacksmithing would make alot more sense. actually, mining/skinning would make even more sense... and gold. skinning everything and selling the skins while selling all the ores/bars from mining will get you enough gold to buy better gear than you could make with blacksmithing. there's really no point to taking blacksmithing until you're sixty and your guild needs one, and they're willing to help out with the very expensive thorium rep grind.

I agree with Leeroy,
you need to march over to your brothers bunk and say
"Yo, I'm 10 years old now and it's high time you started treating me like a man! Show same dame respect!"
Then you just drop that blacksmiting/herbalism and 'you' go get mining/alchemy! Now whos me charge a Auzzieman! That'll show em whos Bos of the house!
Just like that, that way next christmas your brother won't just get you more of those stinking inflatable bath toys, o no, next christmas it'll be all better
and finally you'll be happy.
The end.
:)

i dont agree with either of them, My brother and I both play, and I am a guild master, I have about 14 members, and if ANY of them need help with money, we ALL help each other, and when it comes to my family I dont second guess it... it's a game, and you can ALWAYS get more money in the game. I am a skinner and a Leather, and my G/F is the minner and blacksmith, shes the one that makes all the money, and when someone needs something, they just ask, and we give.

All of these comments have to do with maturity level. Can I see kids who are 10 and 12 using one another without regard...yes. But can I also see behaving in a repsectful, giving way...yes. You need to ask yourself these questions: Why are you playing and how is your relationship in life in regards to one using another for personal gain.

In the end remember, this is a game. The point should be spending time with your family/friends etc. The gains you make in the game aren't worth much in the real world, but your relationships with your family are. If it becomes an issue or stressful, look at leaving the game, or changing how you work your professions. Its not hard.

Ya but what you discribed is
    not
what the OP did.

You discribed where each person has a gathering job and a producion job, the gathering job supporst the crafting one. what the OP discibes is just rediclous, There is not one dang reason for you to have each others gathering professions. I play with my brother too, he is about 8 years younger than me and lives on the other side of the states in Califorina; I can only immigine waiting for him to login to get me some goldthord because i wanted to make some pots. Just as rediclous as him needing me to log on for some iron..... Sure the OP and his brother could live in the same house. But, Will they always paly at the same time? will they level at the same rate? the awnser is no, making this a bad idea.

Gather for your own craft, or just gather for mone, but gathering for somebodyelses (a diffrent player, i gather for my alts all the time)craft is just silly.
