Give up 205 mining/blacksmithing for ? and Enchanting?Follow

I just realized that mining and blacksmithing are not amazing professions, and perhaps I should have chosen other ones.
I'm a level 33, paladin. I hate these two professions after doing them for my character's entire life span. Boring as hell.

Things that I hate about Mining/Blacksmithing
-I don't like how the minerals are so hard to come by (good ones)
-Expensive to get some mats
-Pretty cornered in when choosing to specialise it, you can't change once you do and the specialization is expensive.
-Sure I can make armor and weapons for myself, but once I specialize I can only make one kind of these (armor or weapon) and if I choose weapon I can only make one class of weapon
-I can find the good minerals at much higher levels, but waiting doesn't appeal to me.
-Getting really boring and tedious, guides are no help

On the plus side, what I find appealing about Enchating
-Really fun and innovative (tried on another character)
-Finally I can get rid of crap green items I find and put them to good use
-Buffing my armor and weapons is really rad
-I can get started on it and get a good level on it right off the bat
-I always see higher level enchantings being sold for lots of $

And if someone agrees, I would like to know what profession to take with enchanting. I was thinking tailoring, since I get silk like crazy from ogres and anything lower than it from all other mobs.
Thanks for any advice.

What second profession to take depends on what you want out of it. If you are looking for additional income to offset the horrific cost that usually accompanies leveling the enchanting profession, I’d suggest a gathering skill. As you already know you don’t like mining, that leaves herbalism and skinning.

Herbalism has the disadvantage of having to find the herbs to harvest. But unlike mining the herbs are more plentiful. You wont’ be tripping over them after you leave the starting areas, but they are sill more common than ore. They can also be found in more locations. And several higher end herbs easily sell for a gold each on my server.

If you don’t want to mess with having to hunt for herbs, you may like skinning. The advantage of skinning is that there are lots and lots and lots of mobs that can be skinned. So once you kill that wolf, yeti or whatever, you just skin it and move on. The down side of skinning is that leather doesn’t usually sell for a lot of coin per stack. So you have to make your money selling in bulk.

If you are tired of gathering skills in general, then tailoring would be a good choice. But tailoring is yet another money sink. Instead of selling cloth you’ll be using it to gain skill. And since you are also disenchanting those nice armor/weapon drops for your enchanting, you won’t have much to sell in the auction house. Still, you can make green cloth armor to disenchant so you can use that to help advance your enchanting or sell the results in the auction house.
