I took Tailoring/Mining, and then once I was 60 dropped Mining and took Enchanting. I'd focus on 1 or 2 gathering tradeskills, and if you don't need the money take Tailoring early. If you really want Enchanting, wait until near/at 60.

Just do instance runs and DE the items there for mats for enchants. Then sell them for $$

Yes, there are. Read the sticky. Class really does not matter when choosing trade skills. "Best for a warlock" is generally the same as "best" for a warrior, or a mage, or...etc. Choose two gathering skills and add in fishing cooking and first aid.

I don't quite agree with this stance. Gathering is not always a money maker, and is not for everyone. First off, decide whether you enjoy gathering. Personally I would much rather craft, therefore I only gather because I HAVE to. That is why I chose tailoring on my first character.

First, decide what the purpose is for your profession. Purely for making money up front, in which case gathering and selling Mats may be the best option if you enjoy it and will spend time working on it. Skinning or Disenchanting combined with mining or herbalism works well. Mining and herbalism combined is not such a hot combo as you can't track both at the same time. But always remember how much money you make is directly correlated with how much time you farm, if you don't enjoy farming its more likely you will spend less time farming and therefore this may not be a good choice.

But money is not the only factor. If your looking for professions that you want to level and keep, I would chose a gathering and crafting profession combo that will benefit you later on in levels. For Instance...skinning and leather working or Mining and Blacksmithing for a lock are probably not the best choices. However tailoring/enchanting or herb/alch make very good long term professions. While many of the professions taper off, money wise once people start getting end game gear, herb/alch is something you can never go wrong with. There are abundent transmutes, potions and herbs to make and gather. Enchanting also is very similar.

Additionally, although enchanting is not considered a gathering profession, it can be used as one through DE'ing Mats. Additionally, although many people say it is expenisive to level enchanting, I have found that with tailoring it is quite simple. If you are going to level tailoring you might as well use your tailoring to level enchanting. Check out DoF Guides. It has some guides about leveling tailoring, and enchanting based on tailoring.

Hopefuly this helps a bit.

if i were u i would keep tailoring but drop enchanting if its to expensive u should take skining because it will make more money but u can also take up Herbalism so u can also make more money or just take up mining. In general take up a mining skill.

just a note on the enchanting: its not expensive, it just depends how you do it. I never spent a dime on my enchanting. Its 300 with some of the more expensive enchants.

These statements only are true if he/she is in it only for money rather then personal utility.

Also, depending on his or her level, money may not be as readily available thru gathering professions. For instance, mid level herbs sell ok, but the real money is in high ends. And your example of arcane crystals, really will only benefit someone who has maxed or nearly maxed mining, and is higher in level.

To the OP, I would think about what you want out of the profession and what it is you enjoy. Remember that income will be slower to come in while your leveling your profession and the larger pay off is at the end. Also, since we don't know your level remember this. It is fairly easy for a 60 to say go farm such and such..you will make mucho money. But if your level 25 there is no chance of you farming arcane crystals.

Pick a profession you enjoy to do and remember you can always change it later. When you hit 60 (if you aren't already) you can very easily powerlevel new professions. Hell in one week I took my priest from 300 herb/alch..dropped Herb, got to 250 mining, dropped to DE my Bank, and redid my herb to 300. I also had 300 tailoring/300 skinning on my hunt, dropped skinning PL'd to 300 enchanting, then dropped Tailoring for skinning when my mage got to 300 tailoring. The point is, nothing is permanent and you can always change everything around. Besides, dropping and releveling gathering professions made me a ton of money.
