under level 25, mining. over 25, herbalism.

All of my alts are mining and herbalism. Herbalism pays off pretty good in the high levels: Dreamfoil, plaguebloom, golden sansam, icecap, black lotus... so many herbs that sell very well. Mining is such a pain, even with L60 alts I haven't managed to get very deep into mining thorium yet. Arcane crystals (which rarely drop out of rich thorium veins) are extremely rare and not something you can consistently farm for money.

Summary: Herbalism good. Mining okay.

As for skinning, my main is a skinner/leatherworker. Nothing leather really seems to be particularly valuable. Devilsaur stuff sells "ok" but not great.

I do agree that fishing can be quite profitable. Stonescale eel sells very well and will always be in high demand for the production of flasks (and even moreso in 1.11 as it is used in a new Argent Dawn turnin). Also, the dedicated fisher will do well in some zones hunting various fish in 1.11: There are added pools to fish in that guarantee catching more valauble fish. For example, there are schools of stonescale eel in Tanaris in 1.11. Very handy if you're running around trying to make a quick buck.

Most people say if you want to make some cash stick with mining and skining, I would probably recommend skinning and herbalism, I say this because just the ore of copper or silver, etc. won't sell for as much as the actual copper bars, tin bars, etc. So unless you have a friend who is a blacksmith who will kindly smelt that ore for you stick with skinning, otherwise ditch skining but keep herbalism, in the later levels like once you can gather wildvine goes for about 1g each on my server (Firetree). Considering you only have one postion slot left, go herbalism.

My suggestion is to take Herbalism and Skinning (And fishing is optional but can make alot)
Because it´s not nice to switch bethween Track Minerals and Track Herbs all the time, and usually for grinding exp or money, you sometimes kill beasts, why not to skin? And when trying to get to nodes or herbs, there´s usually mobs in your way.
And for Rugged Armor kit, you save alot cash if you buy yours when Faire isn´t coming for some time :) No one keeps prices as high when Faire is off... Expects i keep regular price...

The problem is that you can't search for herbs and veins at the same time. That's why most do skinning and one of the other two.
