Currently I have level 23 Dwarf Paladin, when I was around level 17 I had Skinning/Mining made enough cash never had problems with gettign a new set of the best armour for myself, but when most of the time I started getting my xp from humanoids I dropped skinning and got myself engineering. I still have no money issues and still spend most of my time leveling up on Humanoids. My engineering is 102 right now and my mining is 98. If I need some cash I smply get myself a few stacks of copper bars and go to AH. Do you think later on I can make some serious cash with engineering and had I done the right thing by replacing skinning with engineering?
One of the things you need to consider when switching to a crafting profession before L40 is the cost of your mount (no worries, if you are a 'lock or pally). You'll have to save quite a bit of gold to afford it. So, if you are spending gold on materials for your skill, will that impede your efforts to gain a mount? If the answer is no, then continue as you are. If the answer is yes, then you either need to delay levelling your crafting or revert to skinning. Of course, you can always fish. As you can tell from my other posts, I'm a big proponent of fishing. Done right, fishing will support any profession, even if it's a money sink.

I've got a stupid question for you, Monique. I have my fishing skills up to 50 and I can't find a trainer to bring me up to journeyman status. Any idea on where I can find one? Yours ever grateful.

Try one of these people if you're on Horde:

Armand Cromwell: Undercity
Kah Mistrunner: Thunderbluff
Lumak: Orgrimmar

On Alliance:
Arnold Leland: Stormwind
Astaia: Darnassus
Grimnur Stonebrand: Ironforge
Harold Riggs: Wetlands
Matthew Hooper: Redridge Mountains

Even though this is in the trade skills forum...

What's the easiest way for a Lvl 13 warrior to make it from Stormwind to Darnassus? I heard something along the lines of heading to Ironforge, and I need to get there for a mission, anyway, but it's practically impossibly to walk there.

I've only got Gryphon flight paths to Sentinel Hill and Lakeshire, sooo... yeah.

Thanks in advance.

Scratch that. I finally found it.

You select it in the skill tab (press 'k') and click the little red X to unlearn it. Then go talk to the trainer for the skill you want to replace it with.

Try it, and see if it works. The first time I soloed Deadmines was as a 34 'lock. If it doesn't work, you can eiother determine what went wrong and correct it, or wait until you level before trying again. The only reason not to try is fear of the graveyard. Is it that bad?

HOW I MINE FOR FISH?

On a serious note, are there 'ideal' places to fish for skillup, or just fish wherever and whatever, preferrably targeting areas/schools that have fish that you might need for other uses (cooking, etc)? The sticky just talks about where to find the trainers, so I'm still not clear on that.

you can level fishing from 1 to 300 in any capitol city, location only determines what you catch. I recomend getting to 100 and moving your butt to the barrens to fish up deviate fish till you can reliably catch stonescale eels in tanris.

i found a quest that let me make a 6 slot bag with leatherworking, and i was wondering if there are actually more quests that allow for the making of bigger bags. i couldn't even find the one i did on a quest search, so i'm a little lost as to where to look next

As far as I know, the six-slotter is the only bag able to be made by leatherworkers. The rest are made by tailors.

Maybe stupid, but that's the title :)

I understand that you can level up fishing skill from 1-300 in the same spot.

Does the attainment of skill points slow as you become more proficient? It seems like in the beginning I was getting a skill up every fish. I am now at 148 and it takes 5-8 fish for me to get a single skill up... I am fishing on the Wetlands coast for the usual fish. I am fishing a +20 pole and am trained up to 225 with the book.

If I moved to a more "advanced" fishing spot will my skill points flow at a faster rate? This might just be my perception or bad rolls, I don't know. I have read all the fishing guides and have yet to find a clear answer on this questsion...

So, what determines the fish caught/skill point awarded equation?

Thanks for your time.

100% correct

yes, it starts like a rocket, but eventaly you will only get a single skill add about every 8-10 fish you successfully hook.

Not one dang bit, acuatly you increase the likelyhood of your fish "Getting Away", and that dose not count as a successfull catch for the addvancment of your skill. That is not to imply that you should only ever fish from a city, but to not try and level the trade in a zone that is far beyond your fishing level.

Quote:

a random test that becomes more and more difficult the higher to 300 you get. for example, when you are at fishing level 1 essentlay it has to beat a roll of 0 out of 101 for you to get a skill add, yet by 150 the game has to beat a roll of 50 for you to get a skillup, by the time you are at 299 it is like a roll of 90 the game has to beat for a skillup.

Hope that helps.

Type "Stonevault Seer" into the search box on the left, and look at the map it gives for their location. Just to the east of that spot is a small cave in a cliff side - that cave leads to the back door.

Why do I cry myself to sleep at night?

But seriously, ignoring the fact that the answer would be server and ecconomy dependant, what are some good recipies to use to skill up cooking past 150 for a lvl 29 toon?

My proffessions arent really doing to good, 150 mining and blacksmithing. I have money and can always make more if I'm getting low. I was wondering if I should drop 1 for engineering. I can solo sm lib for money plus greens to put on ah. I just wanted to know about engineering as a hunter.

one of the more empty zones of leveling cooking, at 150 there are only 2 choices to get you to 175. Heavy Crocolisk Stew and Tasty Lion Steak, that it.... Kind of cheap if you ask me. What sucks even more is that there is no choice in it, you get one or the other, dependent on faction.

While it is possible that somebody placed the recipes up on the Netrual AH, generaly speaking you will only see one or the other.

The Recipe "Tasty Lion Steak" is mostly for the alliance you get it by completeing the quest :Costly Menace" in Hillsbrad Foothills.

The Recipe "Heavy Crocolisk Stew" is mostly for the horde it is far less difficutlt to get, you jsut go see Ogg'marr the butcher in Dustwallow Marsh.

As a side note selling the recipe for Heavy Crocolisk stew is a way for horde players to make money, I can usualy post one for a gold on GAZ AH and it usualy sells.

I am the wrong guy to ask, Hell ya drop smithing and take up Engineering, if you can make the bulk of your cash elsewhere, then the fine art of blowing crap up is for you. By far the most "Fun" profession in the game. But i am a bomb addict, so make you own choices, yet if you ask me, i am right!!!!

I guess the first thing that I'd say is buy the cookbook. You won't get over 150 without it. Other than that, CapitolG already did the work.

ummm... i am still a noob to this game and im wondering...is there anyway to make a good profit using blacksmithing, i have been looking at items you can make and some things take about 12-18 arcanite bars and they are 40G ea on my server, even is there anyway to make money at 300 blacksmithing and if there is can you tell me what spesific items and explain a bit. Also if mining would help because i see that mining wouldent you just sell the materials raw insead.
