ok my alchemist's herb is higher than my alchemy which is not abnormal. however, im considering using my hard earned gold to match/exceed my herbalism skill.
good or bad idea?

Well, it depends on how badly you want to level up your alchemy. I had well over 1k gold so it wasn't a big issue with me to use my gold to level alchemy up (which I did in a matter or a few hours). However, if you are saving your gold for something like your epic mount then you of course don't really want to go that route. It really just depends on how badly you want to level your alchemy and if you are willing to part with a substantial portion of your gold to do so. Sorry I couldn't be any better help, but that is just the method I used in deciding what I wanted to do.
