300 tailor--now what??!!Follow

#1 May 04 2006 at 5:58 PM Rating: Decent
Tailor posts are sorely lacking in this forum!

Anyways, I reached 300 tailoring last night so I can create my epic robe of the archmage.

Now what else is their to do with tailoring?

A lot of the tailored epics are BoP so no point in creating if it outside your class. I have yet to raid MC, Ony with my guild, do pattern's drop there that make tailoring worth the long run? Or is it wise to just drop tailoring now that I made my epic robe and switch to another profession that suits my gold production needs or enchantment needs? Ah but then their is the xpac to consider and what will come of tailoring then? Your thoughts?

Personally, having tailoring has made me a lot of money, but not by selling my wares(also making a Robe of the Archmage, just a few essences to go). I instead make my money by making a lot of items for disenchantment. I can often make 40g profit in 20 mins doing this.

Other than that, you might take GeneriKB's approach to making money with crafting skillsGeneriKB's Guide. I'd imagine, for example, that you can make some fair money in crafting fees from making Flarecore items for people just getting ready to raid MC.

What are you crafting that is worth disenchanting? I have a alt that is an enchanter and I am always looking for better (and easier) ways of making money.

lol farm materials and make greens/blues then mail them to an enchanting alt. I do this as well.
I too am currently working on tailoring (skill 265). Once oyu get to 300 look for different patterns. I doubt you own all the patterns. Make lowbie items, make bags, enchanting bags, Mooncloth! All of these bring fair amounts of profit. Bags is really where a tailor shines though.

It's a secret(just kidding).

Actually, I do lots of things, at least 1 for each level of cloth, not counting moon/fel cloths. That way I always have a variety of enchanting mats up for sale.

Rather than tell you what works on my server, I'll tell you how to figure out the best way on your server:

Addons:

ReagentCost
Why: Tells you how much the average cost of materials is for your craftable goods based on Auction House prices.

Enchantrix
Why: Tells you what an item will disenchant into and what the average price of those items will be.

Auctioneer
Why: The other two addons use information gathered by this one. Try to do a scan once a day.
Bonus: Once you have done a few scans and have an idea of what to make, you can craft your goods in bulk all while doing your daily AH scan. Good time for a restroom break; to - in the words of Flintlocke - make a sammitch; or just time to catch up on an episode of Southpark that you happen to have on your DVR from the previous night. Just make sure you stop by every couple of mins to hit a key so that you don't go AFK and stop crafting.

Tip: Don't forget that often people list stacks of cloth on the AH for cheaper than what you could get the equivalent number of bolts for, so there are some things that may only look marginally profitable via ReagentCost/Enchantrix that are very profitable when you buy the raw cloth instead of the bolts. This is especially true of Mageweave and Runecloth. Again, this is on my server, so what these are may be different.

Hope this helps.

Edit:
One Caveat
The value of disenchantables from Enchantrix is average. You may lose money on an individual item you make. Some disenchants will reward you with less and others will reward you with much much more. Plan to make a lot at one time and it usually averages out to what Enchantrix says.
