Hi all,

I'm wondering what lvl is minimum for making dark iron bars in BRD? I have lots of DI ore (also have the required 20 gold bars, 2 star ruby's and (?) true silver) and i want to make the bars.

I'm a lvl 54 NE warrior, is it possible??

If you can mine dark iron, you should be high enough level to learn to smelt it. The trick is finding a group that is willing to fight all the way to the end of blackrock depths. There is a room with seven ghost dwarves which block access to the final section - one of them is Gloom'rel and you need to talk to him before starting the fight script. He will tell you that sacrifices must be made in order to learn to smelt dark iron (or something of that sort) and a ghostly chalice appears next to him. Click on the chalice, give up your gold, truesilver, and rubies, and you have the skill.

The Black Iron Forge, which is the only place that dark iron can be smelted, is just beyond the ghost room and to the right. There is a bridge guarded by fire elementals that leads to the molten core instance, and a tiny pathway over the lava river on the left that leads to the forge, guarded by a single fire elemental. Kill it, walk out to the forge, and smelt down your ore. Remember it takes eight ore to make one bar of dark iron - you have to have a lot of carrying space to get a useful quantity of dark iron out of a trip.

Good luck!

tnx for reply, it is very usefull.

still got questions though:
What are the lvl of the mobs?
Are they elite?
And the group how big it should be and what should median lvl?
And if i'm high enough does that mean i'm high enough for the instance?

The mobs/forge are in BRD and are elite (it's an instance). I never did like the place, and never learned to smelt DIO myself. If you've mined the DIO yourself then chances are you're probably high enough for the instance (or close). It's mid 50s and requires a full group.

Just realized you're 54... you should be good now (or very soon). I haven't been in the instance since patch 1.10 so I'm not sure how they changed it around (if they did). I've seen people spamming around your level for groups on my rogue's (lvl 49) server. I would assume you're around the correct level... now all you have to do is find a group.

Mobs=Mostly eleite(the see thought stealth dogs are not eleite)
Time= 2-6 hrs(with no shadowforge key)(it can be done in about 1 hr 45 mins by all 60's, heck mabye faster)
Mob level= about 47-60
group size and average level depends on how faster you want to do it

If all you're doing is the Dark Iron Ore, a good group can run it fast - I run the MC attunement runs for my guild and it takes 90 minutes, with no stopping for other quests along the way. That puts you one easy mob away from the Black Forge at the end, and yuo can do the talks with Gloom'rel and Lokthos Darkbargainer along the way without taking up any extra time. Fire resistance or a warlock are very helpful - the pulls of three fire elementals are the worst parts of the instance, much worse than the bosses.

If you need to forge the dark iron after you've smelted it, you can backtrack to just outside the bar, jump over the rail and take out Incendius, and you're at the anvil - another 10 minutes added to the run.

BRD is huge - the trick to running it fast is to decide beforehand exactly what you want to accomplish and don't get sidetracked onto the 500 other quests people have there.

me and a 60 pally duo'd to the dark anvil in brd yesterday. it involved running past alot of dwarves and jumping through a window where they couldn't follow, then threading the needle between some guards and finally duoing incendius. it was quite a rush.

Quote:
follow close and don't die

quoth the pally.

in a group you'll do okay as a 54 warr, though you'll want a pally with fire protection aura or some fire protection pots for the elementals.

Done!! created some.

All miners listen:

You can make a great deal of money by simply buying the dark ore from AH and then go create the bars and sell them again. I found that the difference between 8 iron ore on AH and 1 iron bar is huge.

So if you're going brd then buy some Dark iron ore.

ChlKilt, that that method of making money requires me to setp in to that hole of a insnace BRD. It is a personal goal of mine to let them Dark Iron Dwarfs live in peace, or if i had the proper sub orbital nuke peaces, what ever, but BRD sucks.

And some folks just love BRD, I just lothe it. I have noticed that since swiching factions to Horde my ire for the place has cooled but i will still never forget Jailbreak, and the 15 times I did that quest and never got credit for it in an attempt to get my onxi key. I would rather run LBRS for warlords command any day.

I guess the bottom line is you are right, bars sell for a chunk more than ore, this is a cleen and guilt free way to make money. no price fixing, no trying to fool folks auction mods, just a legetimate service.

Capitol Commie agrees with you method of making money.
