I have been talking to a couple of people on my realm who tell me they have FISHED epic items,anyone can talk to me about this,what "epic" items can we fish?

On my server, some genius horde players started a rumor that one of them fished an epic sword from the moat around the BS in Arathi Basin. The genius part of it was, they managed to start this rumor on the alliance side. For almost a whole week, the alliance did nothing but fish those waters in AB while the horde got easy wins all week. The games only lasted about 5 minutes because most of the alliance were too busy fishing to even defend the stables, so they were winning 30+ games of AB a day. Needless to say, these horde took a large gain in rank and rep with the Defilers.
that's freakin hilarious! that's such a good idea. maybe i'll try it on my server!

Back in the early days of WoW, it WAS possible to fish epics. However, Blizzard decided that was too easy and put a stop to it. So they could be telling the truth about fishing up some epics, but they did it a long time ago.

and killing level 47 troll in the hinderlands was not eazy, because thats who droped my gutripper. so my question is, what constutes "Back in the early days of WoW"? Beta?, Open releace? because I fished beta(the last 2 months) and never saw a Eazy Epic.
Now they did cut the cost of items you fished, Like fish, some sold for a few silver each(10 silver per fish was the most I ever got)this made sitting at steemwheel in Tanris quite profitable for the vendoring of said fish.... so they made the vendo price about 10 copper, now folks dont fish like they used to.
As for fishing epics... I belive it is possible, just like it is possible to Pickpocket a epic(I have done this in DM), or find one in a chest, I would think a floating wreckage could contain a epic, I do not know for sure it can.
The only thing I can imagine fishing an epic out of is one of those chests you get from Floating Wreckage. I've gotten greens out of those, epics are at least possible. Maybe an epic from a bloated fish is possible too.
