Ooh... an alchemist and a leatherworker. Very nice couple... ANYWAY, it depends on who you care about more really. From leatherworking level 1 to 225 is mostly leather armor and cloth armor. However, once hunters get up to level 40, they can wear mail armor. The thing is, only one type of leatherworking can make mail: Dragonscale. Druids can only wear up to leather. Don't get the wrong idea, you can still learn normal leather armor patterns after 225, but it wouldn't be as good as your chosen type of leatherworking.
Bottom line: for you, dragonscale. For her, I'd say elemental. It's your choice. Red pill or blue pill.

why dragonscale for him?

i'd go with tribal, it's the money maker.

and what do you mean by form a party? like right now? because probably your tradeskills wont matter that much in a party.

I think that ha means he wants to duo with her. Hunter/druid is a good combination, especially since it combines just about everything: tank, healer, DPS, distance and melee.

Ummmm..... Maybe because it says so in the post, then again i could be wrong. . . . . Yo MaMa

Sorry if the question is typical for noobs, but everybody starts as a noob and there's no shame in that.
Indeed, as said in my first post, I'll be the hunter, she'll be the druid and we plan to form a party consisting of only us two.
So the leather armour I'll be making as a dragonscale specialist is inferior? Well that rules dragonscale out, since i still want to make stuff for her. :)
Is tribal only good for moneymaking?
Maybe then i'll choose elemental.
On the other hand, is elemental armour as good as other leather stuff for sale on the later levels? If it's not i might go for tribal since then we'll need the money to buy the better equipment.

Any more opinions about this?

Isilion, Laser is totally off-subject here. Just the fact that you're posting in a normal manner means you are not a n00b. You're a newbie.

N00bs don't change. They're always right. They don't ask questions: they tell you what they think. And goddammit, it's RIGHT.

Newbs are new players who can reason logically, and ask questions to learn a variety of opinions before making educated choices.

You are no n00b. Now, onto the question.

Dragonscale would be good for you, as a Hunter, because at level 40, you wear mail, and dragonscale is primarily a mail-making route. There are problems with dragonscale, though; the first one being the expense. Everyone will agree, dragonscale LWing is expensive. The scales can be tough to get (a lot of them require UBRS runs at the end-game), and the patterns are insanely high. Then again, the pieces are good.

The second problem is that, post-40, your girlfriend will continue with leather, and you'll get mail. Since Dragon-scale is mostly mail, you won't be able to make as many items (or as many good items) for her as for yourself. Not calling you selfish, it's just something to keep in mind.

I suggest checking the Trade Skill Sticky's Leatherworking section. Under it there is a link to "Dragonscale, Tribal, and Elemental Leatherworking: Let's Talk." It gives a lot of the recipes unique to each branch, and tells you the pros and cons and basic stats found in each branch.

If I remember correctly, it basically goes:
Dragonscale: Shaman and Hunter (mail)
Tribal: Rogue, feral Druid
Elemental: casting Druid, casting Shaman (leather)

That might be a little off, but I seem to remember that "basic" outline. Keep in mind that there is overlap, of course. Check the guide and decide for yourself! And keep asking questions ^_^

you know, when i posted that the first time i read his post 5 or 6 times to make sure i didnt say something retarded, and i still missed that. it even has it's own line. i guess being retarded is unavoidable for some people hey?

anyway, i still woulndt recommend dragonscale. go tribal, you'll have a much easier time making the stuff, your girlfriend at least will enjoy it and it sells better. you can just buy black dragonscale stuff if you need to.

the alliance market is smaller for dragonscale because there are no shamans. so once again, go tribal.

if you want to make stuff for your girlfriend, id say go tribal, its probably best for druid, although elemental might be better if she plans on being a feral druid(im resto), but youll get mail at 40, and youll have to buy the good stuff (ex. anything except turtle and scorpid scale pretty much)

If you are going to just be a duo, you might want to consider mining and engineering. This would give you enhanced survivability and allow tackling larger challenges on your own. Think about things like jumper cables to rez the druid, some interesting trinkets, and bombs for PvP if you are on such a server. Personally, I applaud your desire to do your own thing since so many people in this game seem to have group-think about running end-game instances ad nauseum.

It was a mistake. The rogue stepped into where I was shooting.

I think having two Toons that you can lvl together with trade skills to benefit the both of you is a great idea. i will try to get my lady to do the same thing. then she will not complain that we do not spend any time together!

HA i beat her at last

Personally, I would go with whatever rout is most profitable on your server and faction side. As mentioned above, dragonscale is generally better profit wise if you're horde. Many of the pieces are specifically designed for shammys, and won't sell at all aliance side. The black dragonscale pieces are very good hunter items until you get your set pieces (and sometimes even after now w/ the nice set bonus). However, dragonscale will only benifit the hunter and not the druid.

My advise to go with whatever is most profitable stems from:

1) Between the 2 of you, you'll be able to farm whatever materials you need to make any LW item (outside the few that require say MC drops).

2) You can always find the appropriate LW to make said item for you with a little bit of effort - remember to tip them!

3) one world... "Devilsaur"
