ok im at 150 mining skill but the problem i have is the smelt tin,smelt copper is grey and the smelt bronze is green so im just wonderin if i should just mine silver til my mining skill gets to were i can learn smelt iron cuz i can never find silver veins and my skill lvl doesnt really go up when im smelting copper or tin now so im just wonderin what should i do
You can level up to like 165-175 skill on tin before it goes grey for mining. So, silver is not needed, nor is smelting. Smelting very rarely gives skillups past the tin stage.
so really i dont need to smelt then cuz i thought it lvls up the skill faster if i smelt the stuff to, but basically just mine tin til i get 175 skill lvl then

Iron is around 155 if I remember correctly. Mining tin will stay green until that point easily, and 10-20 points beyond it. Every node works this way; before you get to the next type, the mining you are on will stay green.
You never NEED to smelt or mine rare deposits to skill up. They can help, but they aren't necessary; and in the case of smelting, rarely do you get skill points for it past the tin/bronze stage.

Just to let you know a very fast way to level up your mining is to be able to smelt gold. On my server gold ore doesnt go for very much and when you learn to smelt it it's orange so it is a instant skill up. After iron you can do this too just to take you to mithril, which sells for very nice I might add. The gold bars I would keep in your bank or on a mule or until the price is right. There are a few recipes that require gold and are easy to make but its a pain to find gold veins or buy it on the auction house. If you need help on finding iron just use the search bar on the side and it will show all the places where it's at.
