in the game, their are 2 ways to cut costs, one is Rep, one is Rank.
You can get a 10% savings on all goods and services when you get honored with a given faction, you get a second discount(of 10%) with your pvp rank, so start killing.

Yes, That can be done. My sister (NE Priest) had her Guild Master (level 60 NE Warrior) purchase her mount on her behalf. this allowed her to take advantage of the his "rep" and "PVP" discounts. This however wont work for the epic mounts because they are bind on pickup.

i thought they werent bop but you needed a certain rank to use them?

in conclusion, yes it's a sweet deal if you can get someone to help you.

I got a guild mate to get mine, he only charged 50g, saving me 22g (or so).

Unless they changed something the standard faction epic mounts are bind on use not BoP (just like the normal level 40 mount). I have purchased several epic mounts for friends/guildies with my sergeant's discount + honored faction discount. Then again it's been a while since I've done this so they could have changed something in a recent patch.

Now if you're talking about the epic rank 11 mounts, yes I believe those are BoP (obviously you could make a killing at rank 11 selling epic mounts for say 500g if the 90g epic mount you got wasn't BoP).

Edit: then agian now that I think about it you need a max rank of 11 to use the PvP epic mounts anyway... so it wouldn't matter if they were BoP or BoU... and I don't feel like looking it up. But since the PvP gear is all BoP and requires a max rank to buy/use it would make sense that they are the same way.

So how does this work - you just ask a level 60 with a good honor rank and then he sells the mount to you, does this work for any mount, like say your a Tauren and want an orc mount would that work?

it's called a frost wolf howler which you can get for 600g in AV

any horde race can ride it :D my 60 UD warrior has his horse and this

as well as my 60 troll sham who has the wolf an UD mount ( getting exalted takes forever) and her raptor

all epic

You can get another race's mount within your faction. To do that, however, you must be exalted with that race. For example, I'm human and am currently working on getting myself a Night Elf mount(and the riding skill, which is why I must be exalted). In order to get my reputation up high enough, I'm turning in both Morrowgrain and Runecloth.

This is a slow process or a costly one. For a non-human, it costs 420 stacks of runecloth to go from 0 revered to 0 exalted. For a human, this number is 381.82 stacks(382 since you can't turn in partial stacks)(for all those who would even care .82 stacks is 16.4 individual cloth, not that it matters)

Assuming an average cost of runecloth at 1.5g/stack, that means:

Non-Human 630g
Human 573g

Edit: Forgot to mention, only dwarves and gnomes can ride mechanostriders.
