Which ones look fun to you? If you haven't decided, look at the trade skills sticky. Good stuff there.

That being said:

Do you want to make a lot of money early on?
If yes, pick up two gathering skills(Skinning + Mining/Herbalism) are often recommended due to Mining/Herbalism sharing a minimap utility that can only track 1 at a time.

Do you want some utility for your day to day?
If so pick up either Herbalism + Alchemy or Mining + Engineering.

Do you want to make your own armor?
Pick up Tailoring + something else(I recommend herbalism/mining so that you'll actually have some money).

Do you want to be broke until you hit level 45+?
Pick up tailoring/enchanting and try to actually level both.

Again, it's all up to you.

I second that advice! My own take on it, for what it's worth:

I started off with herbalism and skinning and the difference between the early level bank balance of this character and my last one (leatherworking/skinning) is remarkable. With the money you gain through gathering materials - and don't fritter away on levelling your profession - I've found I can generally buy stuff on the AH that's as good as, exactly the same as, or better than, what I could have made.

Once I hit lv35 I used some of my saved money to help power level engineering, which is brilliant for PvP. As a warlock, I think one of your best advantages is the variety of your attack methods - dps, damage over time, pet damage, and crowd control stuff like fear and succubus seduce - so I think anything which gives you more fighting options, like engineering, is a massive bonus. Nice stun effects off the bombs, for example.

I've take alchemy as a second profession. I think that's probably the one with the next biggest PvP value. I really like spending time making cash at the AH though, so I'm usually ok for gold. If you're not into that, I'd definitely recommend mining to back your engineering up.

I hear there's a superb endgame warlock robe that only tailors can make and wear, but I've also read that there's an alternative usable by anyone which is comparable, although not quite as good. That might affect your decision.

I'd also hugely recommend getting first aid as a secondary profession. With your crowd control able to take people out for a good ten seconds or more at a time, but with damage breaking the effect, that's the perfect time to heal yourself. With a healthstone, a healing potion and a bandage, that's three heals on seperate cooldowns you can use, with no mana cost (apart from making the healthstone beforehand).

Cooking too is a good one for us locks, since your can get decent stamnia bonuses through eating, and we do like our stamina.

Mining/Engineering is a really nifty combo for any class. However, there are some cool things in it for a cloth wearer. It also adds a bunch of utility to your class (especially in PvP). Herb/Alch is also a good combo, again you'll find great uses for the consumables you make. Tailoring/Enchanting should, IMHO, be saved for 45+ as they are going to be money sinks. Make a nice nest egg as you're leveling, and then you can switch later if necessary. I honestly still strongly believe the best combo is skin/herb and only mine/eng if you're really into PvP. It's usually more efficient to buy stuff off the AH with the money you make from gathering than to make it yourself. Making it yourself often requires you to spend tons of gold leveling up your skills. The items you can make are designed to be of lower level (IE: most of the time you can't farm the mats solo).

I went with engineering/mining. I have never had money problems on my Warlock, perhaps owing to the fact that I didn't need to buy a mount. At level 40, I found myself with 200 gold, so I sent most of it to my main :-P.

Engineering is a blast as well. If you go Gnomish, the Death Ray + Sacrifice is a great combo. If you need to interrupt a spell cast, lob a grenade (the stun won't last, but it will stop the spell cast). Before level 30 helms become available, you can make yourself cloth helms with good stats, especially for casters. Plus, you can make a lot of nifty status-altering items ^_^ Gotta love a Discombobulator Ray.

If you want bloodrobes, you'll need robes of arcana. You might want to consider tailoring for that reason.

If you are undead, alchemy fits the quest story lines well.

Always...always...pick up the secondary skills! Fishing for money, cooking for buffs, first aid for heals.

When I first started my lock, I went for talior/enchanter, but as I couldn't make nay money I dropped enchanting and went for skinning after getting that I started to make so much money from skinning because I can sell thick stacks for 70silver per and rugged for 1.8g-2g per on my server and during the faire I make a bomb, I never had to pay for a mount so I was around 160g when I got to level 40 and I only just hit 60 on it abotu 2 weeks ago and I am at around 1k gold and have bought basicly all the mats for my epic mount and just doing the quest, having helpful guildies with making the shadow pots and transmuting the arc bars helps alot, but buying the arcane crystals is one of the worst parts :P but I would really suggest maybe alch/herb or talior/<gathering skill> they are really good, the problem with engineering I found was that with my 60 priest I never sold much from engineering so I never got much money back from it, there is afew things you can sell but not much to be honist but it is more of a "fun" profession to be honist. I hope this helps

Do not do tailoring till about lvl 50 or so. Most of the tailoring armor is geared toward mages and preists. Very few of the armor has stamina bonuses, which is essiental for a lock.
