Alchemy without herbalism - which potions to make you gold?Follow

Hi.

I'm a lv34 warlock who initially took skinning and herbalism. I've now dropped both for alchemy and engineering, which I've power levelled to 225 (hooray for time off work!)

I'm wondering which potions more experienced alchemists have found to be good sellers on the AH. Also, are there any specific recipes you think I should watch out for to turn a profit?

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,
Tom.

I have herbalism and enjoy collecting herbs and such in free time. So making a profit is much easier.

Turning a profit by buying the herbs off the AH is more difficult. First of all watch the AH for average prices and when/if someone sells soemthing cheap pick it up.

However there are some potions that you can buy the herbs make the pot then sell for a small profit per stack of pots. Healing pots and Mana pots I have found can be sold for a few gold profit per stack even after buying the herbs on the AH.

Free Action potions I have done this with but its gotten harder on my server because the blackmouth oils price has gone up.

Mongoose potions at times I can make a profit but you have to watch the AH because alot of ppl are taking herbalism and not alchemy and trying to make a big profit off these harder to get herbs. Becareful making money this way because if your not careful you may end up only making your money back or even losing a bit.

I find the Greater Healing pots can be one of the better ways to profit witout collecting the herbs your self. You always make a couple gold profit per stack, and even if you flood the market with them they will eventually sell as ppl of the mid lvls always need heal pots.

Goblin Rocket Fuel is selling like hot cakes... however, Volatile rum is bloody expensive :-P. Still, it's like 3g per fuel, and the rum is around 1-2g a piece... so you might make a profit.

Also, for alchemy you get transmutes... buy your own materials (crystal + thorium bar) and transmute them. You'll make 10+ gold profit, instead of 5g for the transmute.

Not sure of what other potions will sell more for their base cost. The most luck you'll have is finding a good deal on herbs from time to time and making potions out of those.

i make money with swiftness, free action, nature protection, elixir of the mongoose, and arcanite transmutes.

but like lockcole says, buy the crystal and sell the bar on the ah... people don't want to pay more than 5g for the transmute, but at one point i was buying arcane crystals for 20g and selling the arcanite bar for 44g... only lasted a week and a half though :(
