My original character is an Undead Mage, created about a year ago and hasnt been played since about then. For some strange reason she has mining/engineering as her skills. What is most preferred on a mage? I really like alch/herb as I've 300/300 about 2 times now :)

Any help would be very erm...helpful!

That is a great combo for Warriors who want to have SOME constant healing, Druids, Priests, and maybe rogues for some of the higher end ones. Mages are tricky. You need the buff pots for Intel, mana, regen, armor... all well needed especialy in the lower levels. However, there is a trick to mining and engineering, though this is far better on a priest. you can make your own headgear that adds +intel, some of it availible at level 10 (tiger lense goggles I think), if your skill is at 100. Various items can really debuff a problem mob, take aggro from you, and really be helpful for some non-mana explosions.

Each of them is an EXCELLENT choice, hands down. It just depends on your playing style ultimately. Buffs or debuffs/booms.

Those are great combos, but the one I've seen the most for mages has been tailoring/enchanting. Enchanting can give a mage the plusses to stats, and tailoring not only lets u create your own armor, but u can create items to disenchant for mats, thereby not destroying the nice items you gather from mobs. My priest has this combo, and it has worked out nicely without depleting my gold.

I'd say for a mage the most beneficial would be either Tailoring/Gathering, Tailoring/Enchanting, or Mining/Eng for all the neat gadgets.

Herb is nice for money, and depending on what potions you need, most can be bought. Enchanting is nice once you have 300 skill and some recipes.
