Well, silver can be found fairly readily in redridge--though it's often mined out there...at least on my server--where the orcs are, I can't remember the name of the place; or it can sometimes be found in duskwood, though don't go there looking only for that, because there isn't very much, and it doesn't spawn as quickly as it does in redridge.
For me, iron is a different story. Being only level 27 but able to mine gold makes things a bit more challenging, and I often recruit my guildmates to help me get at the damned stuff. There are really only two places that spawn iron consistantly, one is in a kobold cave in the Arathi Highlands, and the other is on the east coast of Stranglethorn. People always tell me that there's no east coast to Stranglethorn, that I'm either talking about the ogre mound, or Zuk'-bla bla bla, I can't remember the name. Then when I tell them it's the far east coast, they tell me that's the blasted lands. Because very few people know that there's ore on the east coast--or that there even is one--it is almost never mined out...again, on two of my servers anyway. To get to the east coast, you have to swim. Start at Booty Bay, the swim south, folloing the cape around till you're on the east side of Stranglethorn. There are some fairly mean naga looking things, and mean monkeys, and an elite water giant along here, but if you're a higher level then me, and/or careful you shouldn't have any trouble.

What level are you? That will make a big difference in where is the best place. Also faction and PvE or PvP server and what type of character are you farming with... IE can you stealth?

In general, silver is a rare spawn of tin and sometimes iron IIRC, while gold is the rare spawn of iron and sometimes mithril, and truesilver is the rare spawn of mithril and sometimes small thorium veins. Anywhere where you find a lot of tin should lead you towards some silver. The places mentioned in this post already are good spots to look. Here are some alternatives:

Copper --> Mithril: stone tallon mountains down in the chared vale. If you can run/ride around the outer ring without drawing significant agro from the mobs (in the mid to high 20s) you'll find lots of copper/tin/iron/mithril. Remember this also means that you'll pick up the rare spawns of them (silver/gold/truesilver). Truesilver is pretty rare in the area but definitely does spawn to a limited extent.

Iron --> Mithril: badlands is the absolute best area I have found to mine iron and mithril with limited amounts of tin, and again of course their rare spawns. I used to go farm there after I got my mount (which ment I was about equal in level to the higher mobs in the zone (high 30s to very low 40s save the elite dragons). Collection rates are dependent on how many people are farming the area and how high of a level you are. In general if you can go around without agroing many of the mobs, you'll likely fill up your bags with ore/stone/gems in a very short amount of time. As an added bonus there is a forge in the middle (north middle) of the zone by a goblin quest giver. This means you can take a break and smelt your stash and keep farming. If horde you can also use the mailbox at the horde camp to send it to an alt and keep farming. I was farming here as soon as I hit the level required for iron, and continued to level here as high as mithril/truesilver would take me. It is a GREAT area to farm -- IMHO the best. I still farm here at 60 (well I don't play that hunter much anymore). However, the ability to gather something on the order of 4 stacks of iron bars and 6 stacks of mithril bars in just over an hour of work is VERY nice. The repop rate is such that when running around the outside of the zone nodes should repop just in front of you - if you get the timing down you'll be very happy.

It is important to remember that stuff like silver/gold/truesilver are rare spawns. I'm not sure what the exact spawn rate is, but it's probably something like 1/10 or something like that. It does spawn in the same places as the nodes that are the common spawns. If you use gatherer mod you'll be able to track them on map and minimap. IMHO the ideal place to farm these types of ore is where you can most quickly farm tin (if looking for silver) iron (if looking for gold) or mithril (if looking for truesilver). They should spawn at about the same rate in any zone - just go for the area that you personally can farm the fastest. This again depends on your abilities, level, type of server.

Here's a couple additional good farming spots for various minerals
Tin: In a cave by the orcs in Redridge near the entrance to the Burning Steppes -- I found quite a bit of tin there, as well as a silver vein or 2
Iron: In addition to the Badlands, the Ruins of Alterac in Alterac Mountains is a great place too. Veins can be found inside (the snowy area) and on the outside around the south & east areas. If you're low lvl, avoid the elite side. Mithril can also be found here, as well as the rare silver & truesilver
Mithril: Arathi Highlands is to Mithril what the Badlands are to iron - that is, it's everywhere; Skulk Rock has the highest concentration of it, but really it's all over. Iron, truesilver, silver, gold, & a rare thorium can also be found here.
Hope this helps :)
