Engineering Skill needs to increase fast!Follow

#1 Mar 27 2006 at 8:57 PM Rating: Decent
Okay, I am new to allakhazam, so I don't know if anyone has posted this already, or something similar to it.

I have a level 39 Druid, and some people may think Engineering isn't right for me, but I think it's pretty good. I quit Enchanting...I was selling Shards, Dust, and Essences, but I thought the enchantments would make alot of money too. So I started to try and increase Enchanting, I even farmed low instances to try and increase it. It was really hard... so I decided to go Engineering, because they can make amazing dynamites and items. Unfortunately, I am at level 39, with only about 153 Engineering(right now). Is there any way to increase it really fast?

Firstly: How much cash you got? Cause that will make or break it. Second you need to hunt down some wiring for the jumper-cables. Jumper cables sell well, and later on they're an ingrediant for another item (cant remember which). Squirrels sell well if people will buy them, but for the most part your guild should support your habit, so to speak. At the 60s an engineer becomes a handy person in an instance. Our guild's resident Engineer is a Dwarf Hunter, and he has loads of goodies that can tip the scales of a battle, reguardless of his own skills. Well timed Dummies can give you that extra second you need to avoid a wipe, and if your guild doesn't really help, then go mine a lot. Even if you dont get the items you need: Sell it. A few days of copper alone can level you from 153 to about 175 if you really push.

And make friends with another engineer. If it be A goblin engineer or gnome, pick one: Cause you can trade stuff and become good counters.

Spend gold. Lots of gold. No, even more than that. Sorry, you haven't even begun to think about how much gold you need - it's even more.

Have you bought your mount already? I hope so, because levelling any skill quickly will eat up the gold you saved for the mount. Heck it will even eat the gold you saved for an epic mount, and leave you farming for more.

you traded enchanting for engineering, but you didn't mention what your 2nd tradeskill is.

at this point, you either need gold to buy ore from the AH or you need to mine your own ore. use a combo of both if you get eager to really raise it fast but from experience, i can say that if you just go mine yourself, it's longer but saves you a bit of cash up front.

once you get your ore, make the miscellaneous items to get you to some bullets. then always make bullets when you can, those are easy skillups for very small amount of mats.

later there will be some other materials you can make for skillup which also just require a few mats, choose those whenever you can even if you end up with 30 of them.

Already been said, but I will back them up, Bullets and bombs are the key, I would have never reached 300 if not for thourum bullets.

QFT, It dosent get more honest than this, I have calculated the median price to level engenering on 3 servers, and assuming you sold(successuflly, with minimal reposts)the average cost is arround 200-350 (and this is on all medium pop servers, so I dont even know on a old or new server) gold depending on server. Realisticly nobody spends that much money on it, they level off stuff they have the mats they mined, but unlike other porfessions that use ore(well only smithing) at level 60 you have little to show for the profession, except a bunch of times you stole vicory form defeet with a explosive/rocket helm/saper charge.

erm, farming fused wiring is as easy as making target dummies, at lvl 21 I had 6 just from making target dummies for skill ups, using the returns to make more and banking the wires, as an engineer Im holding on to them, but if I need cash bad enough, there are plenty of people willing to fork over 5g a piece rather than try to farm them.

Well, if you get to level 260, I recommend making Thorium Widgets for the Darkmoon Faire turn-ins. According to allakhazam, these go for like 1g 60s a piece. If you get Thorium for 8g a stack, you can make 6 Widgets, which covers the cost of making the widgets and the Runecloth too. So from level 260+, it doesn't seem too bad.

Getting that far is a pain, though. And yes, you need money. Lots of money.
