Ok so i pick up Gnomish engineering and I can seem to figure out where I learn the patterns? Can you guys help me out here, who do I need to talk to?

I haven't taken up Eng that far on any toon yet, but I do know after about 250 skill, most receipes for any tradeskill have to be found or bought off the AH as the trainer doesn't teach over 250 skill.
Gnomish engineers can be taught either by a gnome in Tinkertown in IF (don't try this as Horde :-P), or from a gnome in Booty Bay. I don't remember where he is exactly, as Tinker Town is a lot easier to reach ^_^ I think he's on the top level of the town, though... but don't quote me.
Thinking about it, that might just be a master engineer in BB. Not sure where Horde go. But Alliance has it easy :-D

Click on the "Trade skills - by trade" link on the column to the left here, then on "Engineering" - it will give you a list of all the schematics available and what level is required. Clicking on the schematic will tell you where it is dropped, quested for, or bought. If there is no schematic listed under the name, it can be learned from a trainer.
Alternatively, type "schematic" in the search window to the left - this will bring up a list of all the schematics and who sells or drops them, and scrolling over the schematic will tell you what level and branch you have to be to use it.

Nope gnomish guy is the same guy for your chicken quests in BB, the only master in the game is the one in gadget.

yea, also in the AH if you just go to the tradeskills: Engineering section you'll be fine

Gadgetzan Gadgetzan Gadgetzan!!!!! right outside of the Inn is the trainer....lots of goodies. You also need your Gnomish Eng Membership Card to access Schematics. I have found that you shouldn't be one of these stroke jobs that hover at the AH and buy all their plans. You should definetly explore the world and find the Engineering Supplies Vendors. You can usually pick up some good stuff. Besides I like to take advantage of these lazy slobs that buy all their plans by buying the plans and then tossing them onto the AH. Thanks Suckas!!!!!! It is a hell of alot more fun wandering around and getting into trouble.
