Stonescale Eel fish time.Follow

I have been told that you can not effectively fish STONESCALE EEL until after 6 P.M. EST. Is this true?

If not when is the best time for this fish?

I've read a variety of theories on time for fishing. Many are in fact well tested and hold true.

I believe I once saw a very good detailed post on the official WoW Profession forums, but it likely may be gone because those forums are crap. Try searching there anyways, maybe you'll get lucky and find it.

Oh, you're bad Mike.

Without divulging too much, there are, indeed, times where you will be wasting effort trying to catch stonescale eels.

If you make, oh, thirty casts without catching one, you can figure that you're in one of those dead periods. Might as well fish schools and wreckage, then. Heck, I fish those at all times because it's fun.

There is also a period of time where stonescales bite most frequently. However, you'd only really notice that over a long period of time. Even then, you'll catch junk fish more than anything else.

lol well atleast he gave me a correct answer :)

I will have to do some testing I see. I play on Magtheridon so maybe if someone knows the best time and does not play this server they might PM it to me? Or email it at Vallock@hotmail.com

I understand if no one does but I had to try.

Thanks for the response guys.

Well, let's see what information you already have.

You've heard rumor that until after six o'clock in the eve, stonescales don't bite. That's easy to test, but we can accept that for now.

You've heard say that you can catch them earlier in the day. That, too may be assumed true for the time being.

So, one would guess that after six would be a good time.

And eels aren't very...shall we say...swift. That means they can take hours to decide to really feed and hours to taper off. Let's just assume by hours I mean...six.

So at six o'clock in the evening, they begin to eat. It takes them another six hours before they really being to feed in earnest. After six hours of that, they start to taper off. And six hours after that they have effectively stopped.

So go ahead and test that, and let us know what you find out.

And, of course, winter is officially over. I have not confirmed it, but I strongly suspect that a fish called the winter squid may be out of season and that we may have to wait three more months before the summer bass begin to bite. Grill 'em if ya got 'em!

I haven't noticed any difference during any part of the day. On one lure, I might catch eight eels, on the next, only one, and on the one after that three or four (or none at all). It all depends on the random number that was generated at the server. Now, it could be that the number generated is time dependent, but I don't think so. That's because there would be a world-wide pattern (like epic drops being more numerous at those times) that would be easy to spot. It doesn't make sense that Blizz would have a special random number generator just for stonescale eels, but just use the one originally developed - why re-invent the wheel?

Ok I have spent hours fishing stonescales, before midnight server time I usually get 1 eel every 5 mins, so a stack in about 1.5 hours, after midnight I find it is about one eel every 2 mins, I average 45mins to 1 hour per stack after midnight. I don't know if it is just my luck on those days but like I said I have spent countless hours fishing.

In Tanaris, Fishing Buddy tells me that Stonescale Ells run approximately 10% of the catch, and I've found that to be fairly consistent no matter the time of day. That averages out to 10 casts per eel. So, what you have to concentrate on is increasing the number of casts per time limit, along with minimizing the number of "your fish got away!" notices and the casts timing out. That's where lures come in. I've noticed that I get a few more casts in (not many - maybe an extra 2 or three per 75% lure) and less of the casts end up going wrong. They don't change the type of fish caught, but more casts=more keepers.

Yea I have tested the fishing times on this fish extensively and every time I think I have found the "power hour" I end up being proven wrong by having a bad fishing hour during a time I once had a dream session.

Like Mike said I just use the +75 lures or +100 when I can get some to make sure they dont get away while Im fishing them.

I dont know what you guys are talking about.....I catch around 40 eels from 11pm -1am server time....so time of the day DOES matter a lot and also the location.

The drop rates of stonescale eel do change with time of day. Not hour-to-hour, but in six-hour blocks. Those blocks are noon-6PM, 6PM-midnight, midnight-6AM, 6AM-noon. You can catch stonescale eels any time, but I would avoid noon-6PM. Best is midnight-6AM, but it's not insanely better than the morning or evening.

I've looked for patterns within hours, but that was just my mind playing tricks on me.

So True the best time is from midnight-6am - and dont forget there are some much better places then others.
Sea of Storms by the Turle cave is very good - but I usually just fish of the dock in Steamweedle.
