Farming for Shards and other noob ?s...Follow

#1 Mar 07 2006 at 3:58 PM Rating: Decent
I have a 60 rogue and have become bored with the grind. I would like to see if there is something different to do with him and I would like to try using him to make me some money. I have enchanting, purely for the DE component, and was thinking that this could be useful to me in putting up a bit of cash. But what I don't know is what I can reliably take out solo that will reliably provide me with useful Shards and other DE ingredients? I can run several instances solo and take out the lower level bosses. But what I am looking for is something that can be solo'd by a rogue and usually drop something that can be DE'd into something worthwhile.

I have been trying to find information on what sort of things DE into Large Brilliants etc, and while I can find a list on this website, they seem to be random drops or require groups in order to consistently get them. So my hope is that you as fellow enchanters and knowledgable WoWers can help me. What instances can I farm that will consitently help me to achieve this goal.

Also, given the DE... I think that I will also go ahead and level enchanting to 300. So this is not PURELY for profit. But it is mostly for a change of pace.

Thanks

Well, you asked, do not get grumpy if you dont like the awnser.

Reliable, a Blue pice of eqputment in the 51-61 range will DE to a LBS every single time, now you just need a steady supply of those, well we both know that wont happen(well no solo). maybe your target should be someing more Doable,Start with Gnomer, it has a few bosses you can stealth to and take out, when they drop a BOP blue, nuke it and get a much smaller shard to sell.

Feeling adventours? Scarlet monostary is Widly conciderd the higherst level instance that can be soloed(the general rule of thumb is that you can take a boss as long as you got 20 levels on him)Some classes will have advantages on some mobs, so remember it is a GENERAL rule. SM is filled with Large Glowing Shard just waiting to happen, the next steap would be Uldman(not completly soloable due to player requirments), and ZF, wich is a hotbed for Large Radiant Shard, but for the shards you are askign about, ST would be the first to reliable divy them out to you, but now i ask, can you slolo BRD, with them stealth detecting dogs?

just farm the regular non-elite lvl 51-60 mobs. all the drops you get from them, once they are disenchanted, are good money. they should be mostly illusion dust, nether essence, and chance for large brilliant from some greens, or if you manage to get a blue. however, for some greens and blues at that level, you might get more by selling the item than the mat.

eg the blue assassination blade is about ~150-180g on my server, much more than the price of 1 large brilliant shard.

heh

Farming for the Assasination blade is what spawned this thought of farming for shards. I flew through SFK so many times in an attempt to get the Blade that I got the run down with all bosses to about 7 minutes. I had to slow it down, because I was getting locked out. But I never saw that knife... I did see it auctioned in SW once for 150. I told him SOLD... but come to find out, someone gave him 400 for it before he even got my /w.

But I did load up on so many DE'd components that I started thinking that perhaps I could do it to actually GET something useful.

And NO... BRD for me is tough... But I can get around if I am careful. But why do you ask is my followup question?
