Are there any occasions where you find selling the potion is more profitable than selling the herbs separately?

If so, what? :)

ok, some potions are worth more, but how much does it cost to MAKE those? as in buying the vial, so the herbs are worth more.

simple question simple answer, just think for a few seconds next time. its happened to me WAY more than once.

Ya well, then you post awnsers, lecutrs and discussions are how message boards work, giving a blanket general anwser is not only silly, but pointless. A talking about it is required.

PS. Gemann welcome to your very first rate down, you can take a pi** poor attatude to the O boards.

But yes, truely low level potions sell for more than the herbs to make them, as those herbs are uber plentfull, and just dont sell, making the value next to noting, and while a lesser healing pot is cheap, it is a infinate larger proffit than peacebloom that just dose not sell. I notice on terribly old servers, it is eazyr to make moeny with early level potions due to the twinking for bg alts that goes on.

It depends on the server, and the time of the week. I have seen times when swiftness potions and free action potions sell for more than the herbs used to make them. And the herbs used to make swiftness pots definitely sell for a decent amount by themselves. Usually I see this at the beginning of a weekend where people are stocking up for the battle grounds. I have alch/herb on my warrior but with my new rogue (which I play the most frequently now) I only have herb. If I need pots I just go find the herbs and have a guildy make the pot for me. Alchemy is actually probably the best money making crafting profession across the board. The reason - pots are one time use, other items aren't. You may use a pair of leather pants for 5+ levels. If you use potions (some people don't very often) than you'll likely go through several stacks in that time.

Sure, there are some. I like selling herbs wholesale, but if you get a rare recipe (either drop or via AH) usually that potion will be rare enough to warrant a nice price.
