Seek out your specialization trainer. At this point you should have decided if you're goblin or gnomish.

I suggest making mithril ammo for skillups. After that mine mithril and skillup on explosives.

Then seek out thorium and create thorium widgets and grenades and eventually thorium ammo (bought from engr vendor in IF). 250 to 280 is a rough ride and you're gonna have to pay out on the AH for new synths. At 280 learn your transporter as a reward.

Though it appears his stuff is only for 260+.

There are no more official trainers at this point only scatered schematics. For example there's a gnome in a cage in Alterac Mountains with the ogres who sells the ice deflector.

Somewhere on Allak is a big list of engineering schmatics with cute little pictures and whatnot but I can not find it.

You are not alone in this, happens to everyone at 250. Keep your eyes open and you get past it.
