Sorry if this has already been covered a million times but has there been any talk of new crafts being added in the expansion? Did woodworking in FFXI and was thinking it would be nice to do it in WoW too.

Well probably in next expansion after BC will come more proffesions like writer, for writing all the recepies and plans for proffesions.

I think that you have to ask yourself what could be made out of new materials that is unique to that craft. remeber that there have toi be severla hundred recipes for a crafter to make, and that they should not do the same thing that items from other crafts do. You have to give players a reason for choosing the trade skill above any other trade skill. There should also be an associated gathering skill.

Thus, jewelry in BC makes sense. In a way, a profession of scribe also makes a bit of sense - there are a number of scrolls already in the game, and scrolls could be used to make one-shot spells for non-spellcasters. On the other hand, would spells in the hands of non-casters create an inbalance in the game? That's a tricky question to answer.

Blizzard has responded to a proposed "Scribe" profession, saying it will NOT happen. There are already random items out there that do similar things to everything proposed by this profession, and the alchemy profession is closest to it. So, scribe is definitely out, unless Blizzard changes their minds (which can happen :-P).
