easiest way to get silk cloth?Follow

#1 Jan 26 2006 at 10:32 PM Rating: Decent
i just leveled my tailoring to 150 and i started getting the plans for items involving silk cloth. i could buy it off AH, but i have a feeling i would be overpaying for something i could easily get off of a mob. can someone tell me the best place/easiest mob to farm for silk?

Depends on your level - almost all of the humanoids and most of the undead level 30-38 or so have a good chance of dropping it. Try typing silk cloth in the search box to the left, and look for areas where the drop rate is >25%, then pick an area you're comfortable farming in.

I know a lot of people that do Scarlet Monastery runs just for the tons of silk that drop. The centaurs in Desolace and the Ogres in the Badlands and Arathi Highlands are also good sources.

I like the Undead outside roaming around Stalvens Mansion, usually lv28 or so. Just be careful pulling around Stalven, he will Link if an Undead is close to his doorway.

Yeah I checked out the maps showing the mithril deposits and it's missing a few in shimmering flats that's a part of thousand needles. Just go to the cave where all the silithids are there is usually a mithril and gold mine with a solid chest in there

^Since when can you make silk out of mithril? SILK....not ore.

Fishing.

Bolts of silk, mageweave, runecloth...fishing. Rum as a bonus. Oh, and the occasional fish, I guess.

The Galaks in Thousand Needles have a pretty high drop rate. Just from doing quests and exploring around there, I've collected literally hundreds of silk cloth.

If you are at least in the mid 30's range, the Syndicates along the north edge of Alterac drop tons of silk. There are 4-5 camps of them, and a few chest spawns in the area between the lake and that burned out town (having a brain block, can't remember the name of it).

Try the cave in SW Wetlands, just to the left of the tunnels coming northbound out of the DWARF area. Lots of spiders, quest ore, but there seemed to be a lot of the silk cloth also.

Dabrie Farmstead in Arathi Highlands, and the syndicate farm near there too....8stacks in one hour with 41 druid last week...lots and lots of silk.

Oh, they spawn really really fast so you can just keep going in a circle around the farm and keep on killing...assuming you aren't competing with someone.

Most of these posts tell you higher level places to go, but you can farm silk in the high level 20s by killing Satyrs in Ashenvale and Centaurs or Harpies in Thousand Needles.

On alliance side, orks drop silk pretty regular.

Your still probably better off bying it on AH.

The prices you sell your stuff for should be based off of AH prices for mats anyway...

If your around the 25-30 level, i would suggest the dragonmaw raiders and such out in wetlands. They're not that hard to kill and drop a good bit. Otherwise, if you want it fast, your best bet would be the AH.

I like the normal ogres around Crushridge Hold in Alterac Valley - just to the east of the elite ogres - they fall easily and spawn quickly. Average around 1.5 silk per mob and there's a good chance of picking up a few greens along the way - a great grinding place (especially if you have mining as well).

If you are around lvl 25 - 30 I would suggest that you go to Gnomeragen and kill the Addled Lepers for it, a 22.13% chance is pretty good.

this is also a great area for wild steelbloom, goldthorn, briarthorn, swiftthistle, and kingsblood if you're herbally inclined.
