Hi all,

You'll see that i'm posting alot on sec. trade skills these days. I never saw the benefits of these trade skills.. Now i do but i'm still no expert on details. So here another n00b question:
My cooking skill is like 1, fishing is 130. Should i learn to cook for good money or recipes or is it a waste of time?

Cook for food for yourself or guildies (heals damage, and some have stat benefits) or for a pet (if you are a hunter). I've found that cooked food doesn't do well at the AH.

cooking goes well with fishing, my druid eats almsot exclusivly sagefish and nightfin soup, for the buffs they provie, my hunter eats winetr squid(and has 300 units saved for the long summer).
You cook for yourself, and your freids(As stated), Not for money, not for glory(in game Thourium cheff would rock),but to eat. While eating and being well fed is not a a absloutly neccary you will find that some encounters are just that much eazer with the right food.

Cooking and fishing is somewhat useful for a few of the items you can create, but overall it's basically a waste of time.

Neither are really a way to make a steady income with and the items you can make (that you would actually ever use) are marginal.

Keep in mind though if you do decide to go ahead with this anyway cooking and fishing pretty much go hand in hand.

Tnx all for this reply,

the cooking will be continued as for the fishing.
I heard that fishing could make a lot of money i a while
(for example the golden pearls out of clams) and cooking goes hand in hand with fishing so.....

We'll see what i think of the benefits in the future..

I made a few gold from Sagefish Delight when it was new, but mostly I cook for the buff-producing effects. If you're going to pause for a bite, anyhow, might as well get some lasting benefit. Improving cooking is quite easy, especially if you also fish. The quest to change your max from 225 to 300 is pretty easy (can simply buy the required items at auction and from vendors).

While pearls can make you money, they aren't consistent catches. You can go fishing for days without finding a pearl, or you might find several in a half-hour. You make your main money from four fish - Stonescale Eel, Oily Blackmouth, Firefin Snapper, and Deviate Fish. Everything else can be cooked, thrown away, or used as pet food.

Savory Deviate Delight FTW!!!! Who doesn't want to morph into a pirate?

I love cooking!

And dominating my cooking skill so easily is such a feeling of triumph after spending so much TIME and GOLD on my other skills ...

You can buy flint and wood from vendors. Usually cooking vendors have this for purchase.

Most communities will have some form of fire you can use for cooking. In Stormwind there’s a fire in the inn in the Old Town section. In Ironforge you can cook on any of the braziers. Sometimes they are harder to find. There isn’t a fire on Feathermoon’s island, for example, but there is one next to the dock on the mainland. If you don’t mind taking up two bag slots for flint and kindling, go for it. But unless you decided to do some baking out in the middle of nowhere you shouldn’t really need to.
