Enchanting Green ItemsFollow

#1 Jan 20 2006 at 2:10 PM Rating: Decent
Hi All

This is my first character I am using enchanting with, so please bear with.

Why can't I disenchand Tigerseye? It won't let me, and it says that I can and it is also green.

Can anyone give me a good explanation as well as some tips as to how I can gain lvls with the enchanting.

So far I have only disenchanted 2 green weapons, and I am a lvl 14 Human Warrior.

Thanks All

You can only disenchant weapons or armor that is green or above. Tigerseye is just a normal item, not sure what its used for, so you can't disencahnt it. Same thing would go for items like green schmatics and items like jade. Hope that helps.

Yea, that's what I thought, just getting confused when I see stuff like this:

Tigerseye
Disenchants Into:
Strange Dust 100.0%

I believe this is a recent change. Gemstones, rare mineral spawns like silver, gold, and truesilver, and I wouldn't be surprised if some herbs or fish may also be green items and at one time all green items could be disenchanted. I think with 1.8, this was changed so that only equippable items could be disenchanted.

Tigerseye, malechite, soulstones, and any other jems have a few uses. The primary use that i know of is in blacksmithing green blue or purple armor and weapons. Thus you actually can DE gems, except first you have to use them as mats for creating some disenchantable armor or weapons.

[Tigerseye] is used in crafting (namely Engineering and Blacksmithing). Green items just mean that they're 'uncommon' not that they can be disenchanted. You can only disenchant 'uncommon,' 'rare,' and 'epic' items that can be equipped. The easier way to level enchanting is to take up tailoring or find a tailor that can make the Green item [Brown Linen Robe]. Farm a LOT of [Linen Cloth] and make about 50-100 robes and disenchant them all and you'll have mostly a bunch of [Strange Dust]. Now you pick whichever orange level enchant has the least amount of reagents and keep doing that enchant until it becomes yellow. This should get you up to 75 pretty quickly and then soon be able to enchant weapons with glow effects and other neat things.

Recap:
Farm 300 [Linen Cloth]
Buy 50 [Coarse Thread]
Craft 150 [Bolt of Linen Cloth]
Craft 50 [Brown Linen Robe]
Disenchant 50 [Brown Linen Robe]
Enchant the most efficient Orange on your list

NOTE: You can enchant the same piece of gear over and over. I have a dumby bracer on my character that I bought from a lowbie vendor just to enchant grind.

tigerseye is a gem to be used in making other things, not an item to be disenchanted.

it sounds like you are using an add-on which tells what items will d/e into. that just means that add-on is incorrect.

you can get to 60 or 65 just by disenchanting.

since you are 14, you already can beat up a lot of monsters lvl 10 or less pretty easily. kill them, get their green loot, and disenchant it.

save up your mats that you get because after 60 or so, now you can level up better by performing enchants.

Make that "equippable items" instead of "weapons and armor" and you've got my vote!

lol

some equipable items (like the shrunken heart or whatever it's called that you get from ZF) cannot be Disenchanted for whatever reason.

Also, I think there was a glitch or something before that I couldn't DE some low level quest rewards/bop drops when I ran the instance for a some lowbie friends. Not sure if that was intentional or fixed... anyone else notice anything similar?
