jewel crafting in real life is somehting like making rings and making gems look better in general by grinding them and what not. so i would say that probably what happens is you take say a tigerseye and change it into either a ring or a shadowgem maybe? i really have no idea

The notes on Jewlcrafting sould give you a idea, and anybody who played D2, and espeicaly LoD, should recoginise blizzard "Reusing" a idea. A jewlcrafter will most likely use bars and gems(Gasp) to make rings, amulets, as well as ... jewls. They have announced "Sockets" and thats what you keep a jewl in. Nobody is sure how this will stack with enchaments, but a ideal woudl be that they stack!!! so for example you have a epic jewl that was made with jewlcrafting, using piles of arcane crystals and huge emeralds, you put it in you socketed soward that has crusader(or bigger,as god knows what comes for enchantments)enchant, now you put you gem in the soward(Permenetnly) and boom it gets a bonus form the gem(someing like Attack haste, or extra damamge)
repeat for other applictable stuff, like plate and mail(maybe cloth and leather, but who knows)

Likely, jewelcrafters will either use a forge or some sort of new appliance like a grinding stone to craft.

as for tools youd probly need a mold of somesorts to make the ring part and a grinder for the gems but jewlery unless its a secondary skill then itd be kinda pointless (but fun none the less)

o and if uve ever played runescape (dont if u havent) then youd relize that ring making although entertaing wouldnt be a wise choice as far as skills go (even tho gems are more common in WoW then RS) and it should go very well with enchanting (id be cool if it was an addition to enchanting were an enchanter can make rings and enchantments that'd be awsm on the other hand) so who know this could be another myth that never actualy comes true

IT SHOULD BE A SECONDARY SKILL IF THEY MAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will probably also use pearls. I can see leather and teeth for some troll/orc inspired items. Skulls and gizzards for undead items. That sort-of thing. They could really have a lot of fun with this profession.

I thought it was quite clear, that this profession is not baised off runescape, but more off the jewls/gems of diabloII and not limited to rings/amultes, but more for the crafting of items for a "Scocet" that either comes on or is intalled to weapons, and maybe armor.

jewelcrafting seems to me to be an accesory building craft. theyll probably be making mostly trinkets, rings, necklaces, and the sorts. we'll probably start seeing white type (common) rings and necklaces. socketing tho, i dont get it. Will socketing work like enchants? like you put jewels in weapons and they get bonuses? that would be kinda stupid... unless you can only socket things like helms and shields.
