Thousand needles is hands down the best place but if you are a lower level alliance it may not be an option otherwise STV is pretty good for iron.

I don't know what your level is, but if you're high enough, the Badlands is a great place for iron. Check the map on this site. It is also helpful that there is a forge and a merchant at the goblin camp in the center of the map, so you can condense your ores between runs. And if you're high enough to go through Lethlor Ravine without dying, there's a lot of mithril there too.

Unfortunately you can't really grind for silver, gold, or truesilver. Silver is a rare spawn of tin mines, gold is a rare spawn of iron mines, and truesilver a rare spawn of mithril mines. What this means is that if you keep mining tin, occasionally one of the nodes will respawn as silver instead of tin.

There seem to be a few exceptions to this - I have occasionally seen gold or silver where I expected to find mithril and I believe silver where I expected to find iron, so it's possible that the precious metals may be even a little more random than I've indicated.
