Drop Leatherworking for Jumper Cables?Follow

#1 Jan 03 2006 at 9:47 AM Rating: Default
53 hunter on PvP. I have noticed a huge change in game play past 50. I am forced into groups which has had great and cruddy times. But, from what I can see my soloing days are over if I want to get into end game.

My question is this:

Should I drop my 266 Dragonscale Leatherworking skill for Engineering to get the Jumper Cables in order to attempt to save wipes?

I have 300 skinning which I think I will keep. But I have found my leatherworking grinding to a halt since mats are slow to farm and expensive to buy. So my bank is full of leather but no scales and I'm not making a cent of this trade.

Have other hunters found that feign death / jumper cables work often enough to warrant this?

My hunter has soloed all the way to 60, I made the hunter for that, for when i needed some quite time. The disadvanage is that I miss(ed) out on instance gear, but in my case i had a main and was able to fork over the cash to keep myself in a decent gun, the rest of my stuff was pretty much junk. So it is doable, the biggest drawback is not knowing roles in a instance, becasue while getting to 60 solo is doable, being 60 is not, you just need someting to do.

I would, My hunter droped LW right after i made some scorpid stuff, took up enchanting and wonderd what I was doing in LW. LW has a place3, and one dragonscale in a guild is nice, as they make shifting clokes, and black dragonscale stuff, but YOU dont have to be that guy, and the guy that can make the stuff is excited to sell one to somebody.

2 Points on this, Firstly, the upgraded cables work even better, your target should be the better of the 2 cable sets, but the basics work ok too. Then, in the real endgame, raids almost always have a rezzer SS, so the FD rez trick becomes less relevent. Now the upside, while doing MC we had lost a chunk of folks, so the hunter,(while in combat) uses FD and pops up and rezzes a priest, now that priest(out of combat now) is free to start rezing folks in the raid, becasue of this hunter we went form 30 back to 40 members allive, all inside the same fight.

The bottom line is everybody loves the guy with cables and FD, ya get called a Lifesaver, all the time.

Well welcome to trades, you take them up for fun not to make money, if you want to make money, dont make anyting, sell stuff, like right now, sell all your leather, make money, look you are making money, not leather belts.

You are at a cross roads, i see you complain about money, if so, mine and skinn, now you can make huge piles of money, or become a engeneer and picup some neet toys, but understand, the professions that make money are the ones that gather stuff for others to craft.

If you aren’t having fun with leatherworking then drop it. But be sure of your decision because you’ll lose all the patterns you’ve bought/looted. If you decide to take it up again you’ll have to do so from scratch.

And unless you have another character with mining or you have enough money to buy all of your supplies from the auction house, you’ll also need to drop skinning and take up mining. Mining is as essential for engineering as skinning is for leatherworking.

If the ONLY reason you want to take up engineering is for the jumper cables, I don’t know that I’d recommend it. My cables have failed the last ten times in a row. If they work its great. But never, ever count on them working. I’d just hate for you to do all of this and have a run of bad luck and regret your decision.

Cal, using Goblin Jumper Cables XL? or just the plain old ones, I get about a 65-75% success rate on the XL's.

But as a hunter OP also can benefit form scopes, net guns, crafted shot, and he is on a PvP server, so engenring has just too much cool stuff to not want as a hunter.
