Making money/Skillups with Tribal LeatherworkingFollow

#1 Dec 27 2005 at 2:56 AM Rating: Decent
I currently have a skill of about 283-285. My questions are:

1.) What are the best things to make to quickly skill up all the way to 300? (looking for the cheapest way)

2.) As a tribal leatherworker, what sells for a decent amount? I have been trying to get my epic mount, but I only have about 225g. I have been doing Scholo/Stratt/UBRS runs in hopes of gaining money, but it hasn't helped much.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

For skillups, you are stuck with the Wicked leather items, bracer or headband. They don't sell for jack because they are about the only easy-to-make items to skill up to 300. I had plenty of gold, bought the rugged leather and did the work. Send the items to my disenchanter... I think of 20 or so Wicked leather items I made, I only sold about 2...

Of course there are a number of other folks on my realm that were doing the same thing as me at the same time...

If you are on one of the new realms, try to buy materials to make the Devilsaur Gauntlets or Leggings. They will sell for a profit for sure. I've been paying around 4g per leather, so that's 32g + maybe 5g in other parts to make the gauntlets. I sold one finished product recently for 75g. I'm not high enough level to take on the devilsaur's yet, so I have to buy my leather.

The other really good item is the Warbear gear. You have to raise your rep with the Timbermaw Furblolgs before they sell you the patterns though. I'm stockin up on Warbear Hide so I can make some once I get my rep up.

Beyond that? I dunno, not there yet. ;)

My main money-making profession though is playing the auction house. I'm very good at it. I've made a lot with leatherworking, but even more just playing the AH. Buy low, sell high. Watch for trends and play the market. It's good fun.

10-man instances are the slowest way to get money fast. If you want to get through instances and make some money, I highly recommend 5-manning Stratholme Live. Righteous Orbs drop there off the Crimson/Scarlet Crusaders, and on my server, they sell for 100 gold average (90-135 is the last time I checked prices).

In a 10-man group, you have a small chance of getting a drop; but you double your chances in a 5-man group. When I went with my guild before, besides wiping so much that the entire instance respawned, we found 7 of the buggers. We handed over three of them to one person, and everyone else took one. It was a nice day, despite the repair bills and slow going ^_^

i tried 5-man scholo to see if i could get more drops...

it didnt work. these instances were designed to keep lvl 60 players poor...they have to do other things to make money.

the 2 hours i spent in scholo with 4 others could have been spent with a friend farming non-elite lvl 60 mobs outside somewhere, and i bet we would have gotten more drops and items in that same time.

so if you just go in for boe loot, imo dont bother.

for LW though, the wild leather set seems to have good chances of making a nice stat. the first wild chest piece i made was "of the monkey"..that was awesome.

the mats needed are a few more than wicked leather set though.

for tribal specifically, the devilsaur and ironfeather seems popular for rogues and druids.

hide of hte wild is good for any healer too. most people dont mind if you charge a 5-10g tip for combining the mats in the case that they collected the mats on their own.

Try 5 man scarlet Strath, Scholo is a timesink with low payout, but also if you are a skinner, ubrs runs have lots of scales to sell too.
