The only way you could become a merchant so to speak would be to use the trade channel of the main cities, or advertise out and about in the low level areas using yells.

I prefer setting up a shop like other MMO's as oppose to the AH, but at least the auction house has everything in one place, so you don't need to hunt around. Plus it means you don't get 500 AFK guys with shops.

There are lots of empty shops in all the major cities - actually setting up a player store in one would be pretty cool! It would be tough to get started - spamming the trade channels and general chat - but if there was always someone manning the store, the word would get around.

Good luck and I hope it works - I'd love to see it on Smolderthorn!

It fun if you think about it at first, but when you think about it longer... You will have to sit in your store hour after hour (and not be able to play (and what's the fun in that?)... Or you should get an extra account and run the games on two computers...

Would be better if you could leave a note in the store who to whisper for service and you could then play in the neighbourhood of your store.

I like the idea of a shop but I think the AH provided a good shop for items as herbs, cloth and ingredients...

So I would say, turn the idea a little around..

Here is my version of the idea. In the mayor cities (later on, also in small cities) you have specialized shops that work as a real guild. (not guild like a clan but as a reallife gild)

guild also gild
n.

An association of persons of the same trade or pursuits, formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards.
A similar association, as of merchants or artisans, in medieval times.

In example, you have a gild/guild of leatherworking. The gild of leatherworking is a small group of people that is really putting some effort for leatherworking.

At the gild of leatherworking you can place a order. I.E. You can place an order for Devilsour Legging for XXg and if you want the complete set, it's for sell for XXg...

Within a week or so, you can come back and the set is finished.

The big difference with the AH is that these kind of specialized items don't always are for sale in the AH. If you have gild of professions, you simply can place an order so you don't have to wait for the spawn in the AH..

Plz give me your thought on this...

It would probably be a good idea for the merchant to have macros that list the materials needed for the most commonly asked-for items. That way, you could have two prices: one for the requestor supplying the mats, and another one for you having to go out and farm them.
