Here's the story.

Buddy of mine is on a trial run and started as a Night elf. I run over there do my duty. So yesterday night on my way back to IF, i happen to bump into the Skinning Trainer in that area and I talk to him and I pay 5 gold for the next stage. This kind of suprised me cause i'm sitting at like 222 or 223 and I'm only Lv34.

I think nothing of it figuring I can't get past 225 anyway.

I decide it hit Shouthshore and see what quests I can do. I find a good Mt. Lion spot and notice the Yeti's and the gold dot locating the guy for the seasonal quest. So since I need Yeti Fur I join a party waiting to kill the Grinch dude. So for a good amount of time I'm killing Yeti's and skinning them, they are still green to me at my lv so i figure get some skins and ding 225.

223...224...225, then to my suprise, 226. Of course I actually didn't notice this until I was 229. I ended the night around 240 something.

Did I miss something here? Is the cap broken? Did Blizz turn it off?

Dont confuse gathering crafts with production ones I have uncapped mining/herb/skinning skills at levels as low as 25, it is funny to see a level 25 mine Dark Iron. Not Broken, just never their.

I guess I'm a bit confused about the professions. i was under the impression that any skill, including fishing, cooking..etc was capped at 225 until you hit 35.

Thanks for the info.

Not the gathering ones...i.e. mining, skinning and herbalism. There is no lvl limit on what you have to be to get to a certain lvl on them. Its just that most of the higher lvl stuff is in area's that lower lvl characters wouldnt live 5 minutes in..unless they had a nice really high lvl friend guarding them :)

If you goto the coast in the hinterlands they are some lvl 50 turtles that drop turtle scale about 1 in 4 kills and thick or rugged leather for the rest way better than steamweedle port as you will need about 120 or so for the later quests to get you wild leather .
