Skinning/hebalismFollow

I heard this was the best combo from a guildie to get the most money, quickest. Is this true?

Right now I'm skinning 75/ herb 120 give or take. When should I start selling wares and what should I start selling?

I'm new to selling ANYTHING, but especially not used to selling herbs or skins so any help will be great.

Your first big seller as an herbalist will be (I have found) around the Briarthorn/Swiftthistle market. Later on, Kingsblood will sell for a ton thanks to a repeatable quest that high-levels do for reputation.

Skinning never has huge sellers, but I noticed a nice jump from Heavy Leather up to Thick/Rugged.

Also, low level herbs do not compare at all to high level herbs. 20 Mountain Silversage will be at least 3 stacks (of 20) of Kingsblood in price.

Right now, since you are not using anything (you have no production skills), I recommend selling everything at the AH. At the very least you'll make more than selling to the vendor, and the deposits are very low for low-level herbs.

The key early on is to sell all herbs and all leather on AH. At low levels you won't make much for each sale but it will add up quickly.

Use the money to buy equipment. Buy stuff that replaces equipment that needs upgrading. The goal for the first 25 lvls is to sell everything and buy any equipment needed that you don't get in drops. Having the best equipment will help you lvl much faster.

Some time after lvl 25 slow down on buying equipment from AH. You will start getting better drops and will not need to update equipment quite as often. You will be able to pick and choose which equipment to update.

Keep selling your leather and herbs and after lvl 60 you can if you like drop one for a production skill or run those on alts.

Herbalism doesn't really have big ticket items, nor does skinning. Your money will be made in the quantity of how much you sell.

For skinning this is good because you can skin as you level and since there are beasts to skin everywhere your resources are abundent.

With herbalism, Fadeleaf on some servers is worth quite a bit, as it is used heavily by rogues. Swift thistle and briarthorn are also good sells. But most of the time herbs that are good sells are rarer to find, i.e. Mountain Silversage, Gromsblood, etc.

A better profession then herbalism IMHO is mining. First off, there are 2 crafting professions that utilize materials from mining (Engineering and Blacksmithing), so when you AH your market will be broadened. Additionally, more people are blacksmiths then alchemists generally, so that also broadens the buying pool, and I have found that blacksmiths tend to buy more mats then do alchemists.

Also, mining has a number of big ticket items once you get up in lvl and skill. On dragonmaw, a stack of thorium goes for 10g, and arcane crystals go for about 20g a piece. I have also found mining supplies much more plentiful the herbs. I recently switch from 300 herbalism / 300 alchemy to 300 Alch / and picked up mining. I was able to lvl to 100 mining in a matter of a few hours of farming, if that. I have lvl'd almost all of the professions, and money wise its all in how you do it and how you much you like to farm. I have a 300 enchanter that can make 10-60g on instance run just from DE'ing. I usually tailor to feed my enchanting mats supply. Mining is so far, easy and plentiful, much more so the picking herbs ever was (and I hate farming, yet mining seems ok). Skinning you can hit 300 skill lvl by 35 easily and the pure quantity makes up for the lower sell prices.

Hope this helps.

Flag this...Up until lvl 25, unless your a twinkie, just skin and get drop armor. If you are diligent and a decent player you will level fine without needing to waste money buying low lvl gear. I have found very little need to buy armor, unless it is something that really appeals to me.

At 20ish if you are alliance, hit VC and get some decent green gear. Stockades at about 25, and gnomer in your 30's. 35-40 hit SM, thats where the better gear starts to drop.

I never bought gear for my priest, she ran SM and got farmed any and all cloth blues that drop there, and was oufitted before she could even wear them. I picked up other drop pieces between that and devout gear, but she was outfitted with all devout minus the robe at 54. The robe has eluded me for 6 months after turning 60..damn that robe.

My hunter is the same way. I think I may have bought her a pair of pants and have a few dragonscale items crafted for her, but not until her late 40's.

Everyone lvl's differently, I lvl'd my hunter by grinding beasts as she was a skinner. I lvl'd my priest after 35 solely in instance, and didn't grind a bit until 59. I would worry about your grinding more then spending time in the AH buying. Most of the time esp after your 20's you will get world drops of decent gear, or have guildies that can craft for you.
