Lower Level leatherworking questionFollow

I have a level 12 Horde character that I trained at Thunder Bluff in leatherworking when it was about a level 5. All well and good, but I can't find any patterns for anything with less than 15 leatherworking experience...and I can't get that 15 leatherworking experience without first having a pattern for something for those first 15 exp points, right? So I'm very confused as to how/where I can get this experience. I've been to the trainers at Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmor, and every place in between and none of them sell anything easier than the 15 exp leatherworking pattern. What am I doing wrong? I've never had a leatherworking character before and I thought I'd give it a shot, but this is really frustrating me.

You should have gotten a couple of recipes as soon as you bought your initial training - if I'm not mistaken, making light leather from ruined leather scraps and making light armor kits from the light leather. There should also be a number of recipes at level one available from the same trainer. Try clicking on "Trade Skills - by Trade" in the left hand column here - that will give you a list of the recipes and what level you have to be to get them.
