Cooking recepies over 175Follow

#1 Nov 19 2005 at 12:18 PM Rating: Decent
I'm having trouble finding recepies over 175 to raise my cooking skill. Any suggestions? I have both alliance and horde toons, and horde can get a bunch of nice recepies from the butcher in dustwallow marsh. I havent found any over 175 for my alliance character though. Thanks in advance for your help :)

Hi there,

Check out this link to see all the cooking recipes available. Click on the ones over 175 to see where to get hold of them.

Some of the fishy ones are available in Booty Bay, and Dragonbreath chili (plus several others) is available on the robot seller on the caravan in Desolace.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link. I am now at 225, which brings me to a new question, how do I get the ability tpo go beyond 225? Is it a quest, a book, or a trainer?

It's a quest that you get from this fellow. I got lucky and found the giant eggs and the zesty clam meat for cheap on the AH. The cheese can be purchased from certain vendors (I think I got it from the cheese shop in Stormwind). Overall, it was quite a bit simpler than I thought it would be. This is Alliance side, btw. Not sure how different the Horde version is. Happy cooking :)

You can fish your way to 300 cooking and make money at the same time. Here's what I did when I was level 40:

First, I got and completed the fishing quest. Then I went to Gadgetzan to get the cooking quest. Like BrianTheFist, I bought my eggs at the Gadgetzan AH. Unlike him, I fished for the clam meat - one of the things you can catch off the pier at Steamwheedle port is clams, and every clam has meat (it seems like on out of 15 or so also has a pearl).

One of the vendors at Steamwheedle port also sells high-order fish recipes - buy them for the next part. Once you have made the omlette and gotten the artisan training, the fun begins.

Go back to Steamwheedle port buy a stack of firewood from the vendor then catch fish of all sorts. When your packs are full, start a bonfire and cook all the fish you caught. Sell the cooked fish to the vendor, and repeat the process until you are at 300 cooking. You'll probably also be at 300 fishing when you're done as well.

Oh, I did mention making money, didn't I? In addition to selling the cooked fish, there are also Firefin Snappers and Stonescale Eels of the coast of Tanaris, and don't forget the pearls from the clams.

The first time I tried to do the cooking quest I got my eggs from the Rocks outside the town. This was a pain as there are far too many mobs wondering around. It’s difficult to fight at that level without getting adds. Plus the birds can be kind of hard to find and they often don’t drop eggs. For all my alts I’ve found a much easer way to loot eggs.

The owlbear creatures in the Hinterlands drop giant eggs. There are a lot more of the beasts to hunt and they seem to drop eggs more frequently. And if you are alliance you can hunt them in many areas there with far less chance of an add. For the horde it’s not so easy. Those nice friendly griffons that fly randomly throughout the zone really don’t like the horde. I found this out the hard way. *smiles*
